I went to see Red Dawn last night and I was pleasantly surprised to find that I really liked it, I loved the first one so I was thinking how could they top it, they didn't they made a movie that had a little more forethought then the first. In the new one Jed is a Marine home on leave and he is the one who trains the kids that have escaped with him and his brother. It's more urban than the first with all the fighting taking place in the city. I won't say much more except to say go see it, it's worth the ten bucks. |

I know that this movie will take a beating from some, but I enjoyed the first one, and am looking forward to seeing this in the next day or so. This is great to know. Thanks for posting. |

Sorry. North Korea invading the US is a deal-breaker for me. The Hittite Empire is about as likely an adversary to invade us. -Kle. |

Well you have to see to find out how they did it and they are not alone. |

From my understanding of the legal ramifications of the first movie, the Good Guys are un-uniformed partisan franc tireurs, and the actions taken by the occupying forces to suppress them are perfectly legal. Mostly. So, while this is why we have a 2nd Ammendment, don't forget the consequences. Your death scene may be shot from a bad camera angle, and your fine inspirational lines may be left on the cutting room floor. |

@Klebert: I heard that the invasion force wasn't just the NKs. They are a part of a coalition of nations (that are led by China?) that invade the US. That's just like the first movie really as it wasn't just the Russians who invaded the US. It was Russia, Mexico, Cuba, and some other South/Central American states. My understanding is that this is a similar coalition but from Asia that is sweeping the Pacific Rim. It's still pretty far fetched but it isn't quite the WAAAAAAAAYYYY out there of NK doing it alone. That came up in a thread I stared a few days ago: TMP link |

When it comes to the potential destruction of the USA, I'll go with Lincoln's remarks. It will our own fault, not that of outsiders. |
McKinstry | 22 Nov 2012 10:18 a.m. PST |
The Hittite Empire is about as likely an adversary to invade us. I have long thought the Western world was willfully turning a blind eye to the lingering Hittie menace. I fear an unholy alliance with the Phillistines could be the end of civilization as we know it and can only hope a band of plucky teenagers could save us. "Bronzish Red Dawn III, This time it's BIBLICAL" – you heard it here first. |

Doc here: that was more or less David and his outlaws during Saul's reign, I believe. |

the "Coalition of the Willing"? But what would the kids need "training" for? I thought all American teenagers were well-versed in modern tactics from their hours spent playing Call of Duty etc. Of course that often results in morbid obesity too so maybe that's where the training comes in ;-) Cheers w. |

I thought all American teenagers were well-versed in modern tactics from their hours spent playing Call of Duty etc. Who says they aren't? When industry gets it's act together and makes remote controlled robots that can be handled through PS and Xbox controllers the world better watch out! |

As good or better than the original. You won't be disappointed. It is afterall, a movie. Jeff |

^^^Being a movie won't keep half of TMPers from bitching about it like it's coming out of their paycheck. |

Would have been far more believable if it was the angry hordes of torch-carrying Canadians storming across our borders, leaping from their longships with froth forming in their beards

I almost spewed my drink all over my screen. That was hilarious! I agree completely.

I'm with McKinstry – those Hittites should not be underestimated. |

Thosmoss: I like the idea of likening Canadians to Vikings. especially since my family is a combination of Nordic and Scottish descent. this new one certainly looks better then the original. I don't have fond memories of that one the first time around, nor when i had to watch it in history class in the late 90s |

Paranoid schizophrenics rarely have imaginary friends when you observe the poor unfortunates
just enemies. |

Everyone knows the Canadians are massing at the border and could invade at any time. We are aware and are watching them! |

Well you have to see to find out how they did it and they are not alone. Teleportation, and space aliens are helping? Because that's what it would take. China and Russia combined could not invade the US, because, y'know, OCEANS. China, Russia, India, and the EU combined might be able to try
but I would not bet upon success, either with or without nukes. Even if they "succeeded", it would be a bloodbath. -Kle. |

They showed that piece of jingoistic crap to you in history class!?!? I thought you guys were supposed to have a better education system than ours. Or was that just math and science? |

Haha, I love the posters who are abolutely aghast at how the USA could be invaded, but don't know a thing about the movie (or how it's explained how Korea et al invaded the US). Ignorance on parade! :D |

Who leaked Iron-age technology to those damned Hittites! Mr. President, we must not allow a ferrous-weapon gap! And Cacique: when do we get our Inertron flying belts and our rocket-guns? The OFM, residing in the Wyoming's gang territory, must already have his! |

Mostly. ---------------------- would the Wolverines be classified as unlawful combatants? like these guys in the jumpsuits link as a Christian and someone who has worked in law enforcement for 30 years I think such pics are pretty shameful though I am sure there are some people who would try and justify such inhumanity. |
