Going along with the theme of the thread for the alien-looking hunting dogs, but not wanting to hijack that posting, I thought I'd suggest a survivalist hunting party crew, or two as well, to go with the Predators-style movie game. The character packs don't have to exactly match those from the movie, but 10 figs, with unique and interesting armament would be a nice touch. I can see several different packs being produced in this range, for multiple follow-on games, and some figs from existing ranges could probably be included in the mix. Please though, no figs armed with just a scalpel, or stethyscope. Give the player at least a decent sized dagger, if they must only be armed with a knife. Also, I can see some other variants for the hunting dogs too, e.g. hunting Kamodo Dragons, etc. I know one company already does them, but would like to see some more active poses. You could also mix in an alien creature, or three, to some of the packs, just to make them interesting. |

Interesting question. Based in the UK, it is not too difficult to imagine such a survivalist hunting party without much in the way of firearms and certainly not heavy weapons – at least not initially. I like the idea of using (updated) weapons of old like bows, crossbows, axes, maces, pikes, some degree of leg and arm cover, and any number of modern hunting knives and shotguns. The idea being to wound, then overwhelm with close quarter savagery! Later, discover an overwhelmed military convoy and snatch-up the disgarded weapons. |

It's not so much the weapons for me. It just some of the goofy attired miniatures going around in chain mail bikinis, sporting the look of your favorite B-movie psycho killer, or dressed up like they're going to a punk rock bondage party! Sometimes those miniatures are just more silly than cool. Most of your survivor types are probably going to wear whatever they can find/scavenge and odds are it's going to be comfortable and practical
looking "stylish" would probably come in at a very distance second after providing camouflage and protection. Also it would be cool to have a balance between male and female figures. Some lines I"ve seen seem to think that hot chicks are the milita of the future. Don't we wish!! There might be a hot babe or two but odds are you wouldn't be able to tell because they have more pressing concerns
food, shelter, not getting munched on by zombies, blasted by terminators, or being experimented by the alien overlords. Dolling up ala Hollywood just isn't happening. Here's what I would like to see:

Rebel has their Post-Apocalypse Survivalists and a couple more in their modern range that'd fit that bill (the Irish Hitmen, for example.) rebelminis.com/15poapsu.html |

For Europe, I'd use WWII partisans. Heaviest weapon would be a Bren or MG34. A Sten is perfect for post-apok, easy to make. |

Alternating between those engaging smiles and heavy frowns (and with perms as well), you just know those pictured above are all going to survive and in the process they will kick some bottom really hard – not Hee, hee, at least my crossbow survivalists will, well, survive!! (We would consider making some of yours prisoners – the 80s style girl in the dark beret, no pressure!) |

All those are good suggestions. I was thinking of troops in different military uniforms too, since the survival stores here sell a variety of different ones, e.g. US, British, West German, East German, some Russian, etc. Yea, definitely need at least one figure with a scoped, modern crossbow. Perhaps at least one with a kukri too. |

Either 1) against aliens or 2) against human invaders, or 3) a takeover attempt by the machines, one can never have too many survivalists . . . and of all ages too! YouTube link

That was wrong on more levels than I care to think about. The "gay" bar in episode 4 was a riot!!!! |

The description of Galactica in episode 2 is great. "It was really big big and grey and kinda shaped like a crocodile and it has these cool launch tubes." |

LOL Back on topic. I would love for someone to make 15mm figures of armed civilian survivors, "inspired by" Falling Skies or even T-Salvation. Dan |

Khurasan's Sepulvedan rebels are a pretty good start, I think, especially if you paint them up in non-standard colors (like civilians in a mish-mash of web gear) and do some modifications on the guns to given them more variety than just future AK-47s. Add to this Khurasan's "Zombie Apocalypse Survivors" and Rebele minis "Hunters," "Gang Task Force," "Post Apoc Raiders" and "Post Apoc Survivors" and you've got a really good variety of something like over two dozen unique figures for your resistance. Sure, it means making multiple orders instead of a one-click shop, but you were going to do that anyway, right ;) |
