OK, this is a little weird. I am looking for a good winged bear figure.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Scale or size?

I assume an owlbear won't do? There have been quite a few of those on the market (at least in 25-28mm) over the years. Perhaps a head swap to lose the beak and add a proper bear's head?

Alternately, tack some suitably-sized griffon or angel wings onto a standard bear. You could find suitable parts in the Reaper catalog with ease.

I just saw this guy playing Team Fortress 2 a couple days ago. Good player :)

Oatmeal FTW!

Sorry, I meant in 28MM.

(and Norman nailed it – my son saw the poster on Oatmeal and REALLY wants a miniature)

The notion of a headswap on an Owlbear might work.

Oatmeal – scroll down about halfway: theoatmeal.com/comics/ptero

No need to do a headswap on an owlbear, there are plenty of plain ol' bears on the market. For a ptero-bear, I'd use the Reaper Dire Bear: link

Add a crest with green stuff and graft on some pterodactyl wings. Iron Wind Metals does a great pteranodon as a wing-donor: link

Oh, that meme. Yeah, easier to add a set of wings from a dino kit to a bear. That Reaper Dire Bear is huge, should work fine even with a fairly large set of wings added – I'd be more inclined to use a toy ptero for the job than the IWM one, but either way would work.

The problem with using toy ptero wings is the mold-line that would be hard to remove (assuming a vinyl or hard rubber toy). Of course, if that doesn't bother NWMike's son, it's certainly a cheaper alternative.
