Greetings all! Long awaited (hopefully) news about date of premiere of BFaS in English: The premiere of the English version of By Fire and Sword will take place on 20 April 2013 at the SALUTE 2013 in London. Before the premiere, at the beginning of March, we will start a crowdfunding campaign at Indiegogo in order to gather means for the print of the English version of the rulebook. By supporting us in the campaign you will have the opportunity to receive, apart from the rulebook, a number of specially prepared gifts (a special supplement, limited figures, posters and t-shirts). The rulebooks along with the gifts will be available for pick up at SALUTE 2013 or will be delivered to you via post after the premiere. More information on the Indiegogo campaign will appear soon. In the coming weeks a downloadable preview of the English version of the rulebook will be available at our website. With best regards On behalf on Wargamer BFaS team Michał 'Kadrinazi' Paradowski |

What Waco says
Paragraph sized sentences make for difficult reading in the Colonies! Those order marker coins are an awesome idea and look fabulous! Any online shops in the USA??? |
nickinsomerset | 14 Nov 2012 8:42 a.m. PST |
Excellent news, my chaps are ready and waiting! Will you have a stand at Salute with a demo game? Tally Ho! |
Kadrinazi | 14 Nov 2012 8:46 a.m. PST |
Not sure about demo game on Salute but we will have a crew of Wargamer's creative team there to answer all questions that You may have :) |
Kadrinazi | 14 Nov 2012 8:49 a.m. PST |
Our products in USA can be purchased through FRP Games: link |

I understand that these are intended for 15mm. Do you have guidelines how to scale it up to 28mm? |
Kadrinazi | 14 Nov 2012 10:57 a.m. PST |
Nope, as we only intended this game for 15 mm (after all that's the minis we produce ;) ) and truth to be told I didn't heard about anyone trying to convert rules into 28 mm. |
Jcfrog | 14 Nov 2012 11:12 a.m. PST |
SSSSLUUUUUrp what else to say about converting rules to 28mm: compare bases and x by necessary amount /closest measures in inches or centimeter. Usually it works with x2 compared with 15/18mm except if you put fewer figs. Should not be the end of it, though if the system takes a lots of space and minis, it might just bog down. I suspect that it needs space (lots of mounted troops)
Seems I'll have to forecast a whole bunch of 18mm more next year. Jc |
Wargaminginmaine | 14 Nov 2012 12:28 p.m. PST |
Kadrinazi- there is a group here in Maine (USA) that has been collecting troops for that period in 25mm. If you need a group to playtest the English translation, I think they would be eager to help. |
nickinsomerset | 14 Nov 2012 12:37 p.m. PST |
If it would help, I have plenty of Wargamer Pl troops, Polish and Muscovites together with some terrain tiles that you could use to produce a small demo game. If you have booked a spot for your creative team then you may also be able to get some table space, Tally Ho! |
Kadrinazi | 14 Nov 2012 12:37 p.m. PST |
@wargamininmaine – Thanks for kind offer but rules are already tested, as they've been on sale in Poland for a while. We have group of proof readers that check translation but additional playtests are not required. |
Kadrinazi | 14 Nov 2012 12:41 p.m. PST |
@cnickinsomerstet – thanks for that :) I do not have any details about possible demo game available right now but if we would organise one I'm sure my Boss (Konrad Sosiński, co-author of game and owner of Wargamer company) will bring some of our lovely minis from Poland. After all we want to promote not only rulebook but also our minis range. |
Wargaminginmaine | 14 Nov 2012 12:44 p.m. PST |
Yes, I know they've been on sale in Poland. We have been following the TMP and blog posts for months, waiting for the English version. Translating the text and someone being able to apply the translations is not always the same thing should you change your mind! |
Kadrinazi | 14 Nov 2012 12:52 p.m. PST |
Once again thanks but we fine with that. |

nickinsomerset | 15 Nov 2012 12:56 a.m. PST |
Kadrinazi, might be worth chatting to Nick from North Star your UK stockist, he normally has a huge mouth watering stand and at least one demo game, Tally Ho! |
Kadrinazi | 15 Nov 2012 4:16 a.m. PST |
I've just had info from Konrad (he is in Poland of course, while I live in UK, so sometimes it take a moment to have answer) – we will be running our own demo games with 'made by Wargamer' minis, so problem solved :) |
Sapphon | 12 Jan 2013 8:21 a.m. PST |
When will we see this on crowdfunding? |
Kadrinazi | 12 Jan 2013 11:50 a.m. PST |
Campaign will start at the beginning of March. |
nickinsomerset | 24 Mar 2013 2:05 a.m. PST |
Has it started yet, just had a look at you links and cannot see anything, Tally Ho! |
Kadrinazi | 24 Mar 2013 5:36 p.m. PST |
Nope, there is some unexpected delay but it will start in March (still few more days to go ;)) and we will post links to campaign. Right now (literally – tonight) we putting finishing touches to English version, tomorrow it will be send to print. |
badger22 | 30 Mar 2013 2:21 a.m. PST |
Looks like one day left, are they going to make it? Actualy, I am not so much worried about the kickstart, as about the release at Salute, so we can order the rules from thier web site. But I guess the one is connected to the other after all they are all the same rules. Still amost a week gone and no new news. Hope this works out better than Ogre has. Owen |

Hi All! We do apologise for total silence from our end, we've been busy :) Kickstarter campaign is, yet again, wee bit delayed, as we focused on finishing English version of rules. We would like to announce that it was finally send to print, so fingers crossed that everything will be ok there. We still keep premier date for Salute, we will have plenty of books and minis there. So no change on that front. We will be running demo games, will be more than happy to see and discuss with any players interested in our game. Kickstarter will start in 1-2 weeks (this time for sure), we're still working on some minor details. Due to way that Kickstarter campaign is set up though, we won't be able to provide any minis/books from Kickstarter to buyers on Salute. We can only start to send Kickstarter's stuff once campaign will be over. After Salute though, English book will be available (as stand alone product) in our online store. We still hope You will be interested in supporting us via Kickstarter, but those that want to have book sooner there is alway online store ;) With best regards On behalf on 'By Fire and Sword' team Michal 'Kadrinazi' Paradowski |
Kadrinazi | 03 Apr 2013 5:44 a.m. PST |
Some official statement now ;) By Fire and Sword at SALUTE 2013 Wargamer will appear at Salute 2013 in London where we will be presenting our game – By Fire and Sword. You can find us at stand TL08. Of course our stand will be well stocked with figures and accessories for the game. We prepared a number of good offers and some surprises – you will not regret visiting us. Those of you who would like to make orders before Salute and pick up the goods at our stand we have a presale at 10% off. All you need to do is to place an order at our web store and write "Salute 2013" in the order notes. Our dispatch department will inform you about the order cost and after paying it your order will be ready for pick up at our stand at Salute. Here is link to By Fire and Sword section our shop: link Salute will also be the place to get a pre-premiere copy of the By Fire and Sword rulebook (English version). The rulebook will be available only at Salute 2013 and later only after the Kickstarter campaign is complete. The rulebook is not included in the pre-sale offer. Contrary to previous info, untill end of Kickstarter campaign book will not be available online but – if You interested in book before end of Kickstarter – please let us know and we will try to arrange something to help You in this matter. Here is next short preview of our book. Winged hussars description and stats:
We will also be making game presentations and teaching the rules at stand GL07. More information about the event at salute.co.uk Map of the trade and presentation stands can be found here: link See you at Salute! |

That pretty much hammers me and Tom, we had already commited to showing this off at a con here in the USA based on the rules being available at salurte. This is like Oger all over again. No chance either of us can come to England just to get a rule book. Not good for us at all. Owen |
Kadrinazi | 03 Apr 2013 7:05 a.m. PST |
Owen, as I wrote to You and Tom via email – we can still arrange for You to order book via our online store but it will not be part of Kickstarter campaign. I remember Your case, already spoke to Konrad (owner of Wargamer) and he agrees to do that. |
badger22 | 03 Apr 2013 7:20 a.m. PST |
Glad to hear that. Let me know what I need to do to set it up. I really want to see this go off well. I think I have a full table already commited to play, and dont want to face the torches and pitchforks. Just let me know OK? owen |

I think this will be the first stall I visit at Salute. Will there be a demo table so I can see it played/try it out? |
Kadrinazi | 06 Apr 2013 10:17 a.m. PST |
As per note above: 'We will also be making game presentations and teaching the rules at stand GL07' One of authors – Rafał Szwelicki – will be running show there, so You're more than welcome to join! |

I know you probably cant give too much away about deals etc, but will their be army packs for sale- I know you do the skirmish packs, but will there be deals for 3 regiments or so to play at divisional level (if I understand how it works correctly) with some suggested starting army lists. Dont really want to buy the book then have to create a army list and buy later, or just panic buy some minis with the book and find I cant make a viable force with them. |
Kadrinazi | 07 Apr 2013 6:35 a.m. PST |
We will have special army deals 'only on Salute' ;) We can also discuss any option with You, explain and suggest best option to build army. |
Serotonin | 07 Apr 2013 6:39 a.m. PST |
Sounds great! Just got to decide on which forces. Thinking of Polish and Cossacks to start with. |
