I've going to be painting some 1980s WG Panzergrenadiers in 15mm. Does anybody have a paint recommendation for the main uniform colour? Prefer Vallejo but other ideas welcome.

Not for wargaming figures, but pre-Flecktarn, I painted some 1/35 model crew in around a 75%/25 mix of Vallejo olive drab and Iraqi Sand, to make a faded light drab green look. I based this on a Bundeswehr field jacket I owned.

Stopp stopp stopp!!!
The flecktarn war introduced in 1991.. To the fernspaehr and fallschirmjager. It could be that some were around in 1990. In 1994 had not yet all infantery flecktarn.

The first flecktarn wat a redish tone and was replaced later by the standard print with was more green….. From 1955 to 1990 were all bundeswehr in drab nato green. There was a test in the early days with camo jackets but it was tropped was it looked to much like the uniform form 10 years ealier.

So if you paint cold war Bundeswehr…, it will be link

Greetings

Ps: congrats for your goods choice of troops.

Gosh Darn it to Heck, I completely read over the 1980s thing. Of course the uniforms were just one color back then, the specific color is called "Steingrau-Oliv" (Stone grey – Olive).

Thanks for the responses. My Google Fu returned and I've just found this site that looks helpful:

Wow! Those were great figs!

I remember those fondly too, Bob! Had a box of 'em when I were a nipper.

You got it there Gennorm.

All the ones I work with 80-82 and 90-93 were like that.
