I just started reading the Square Bashing rules. But I note the army list book has lists for British armies on the western front and east Africa – but no Mesopotamia / Gallipoli fronts?

I already have have Ottomans and British Empire in 10mm…

Have a look at the middle war British list – I think that covers the Middle East

Ah yes, thank you. A test game coming up if I manage to get it organized by next week…

If I get a game organized, an AAR will follow.

I have Lettow-Vorbeck's askaris painted up. Is Tanga a good training scenario?

The simpler the better, for me and for my crew.

Tanga is such a unique battle I think you'd be better off just picking a standard quick start game and building your armies to suit that.

Thanks for the advice, Martin. I think I'll make the Brits the attackers with the single MK IV available (also one RR armored car) and have the Turks defend a trench line, call it Gaza 1918. Or should I make it even simpler?

We won't use gas in the mid-east.

I'll replace one of the roads with a railroad, just because we have a rail line.

Trenches make quite a difference to the assault. The attackers suffer a -3 dice penalty and defending infantry and mgs save on +1

Hasty defences aren't as bad being only -2 to the attackers

Should I forget the trenches for the first game? I have a bunch of resin ACW trenches that look rather nice.

But a nice looking game that sees the attack thumped soundly may put the lads off – though if the Turks in the open get walked over…

Oh, what's an umpire introducing a new rule set to do?
