I am a recent convert to 15mm and for my first campaign, I am going for a Second American Civil War scenario set in the late 2040s. It's nasty conflict between Federal Government Loyalists with their reluctant allies, the EU and Britain, and the Popular Separatist Movement and their under-the-table backers in Beijing. The Chinese, Russians, EU and Britain all have troops either in the US or waiting across the border in Canada, nominally as part of the UN Anti-Nuclear Terrorism Task Force, waiting to swoop in and destroy any nukes before either side decides to try and use them. Throw in a whole load of mutinying Army and National Guard units who think both sides are war-criminals and millions of refugees
not a pretty picture. I have an idea of which models to use for most of the factions (mostly modern stuff with a few sci-fi toys for the more favoured units) but have run against a wall looking for a good model to represent the Chinese Popular Republican Guard (a unit comprised of talented young cadets who hope to fast-track their careers by volunteering for suicidally dangerous or morally ambiguous operations). I am looking for something intimidating and unsettling to fight (their speciality is PsiOps) but also with some sort of Chinese touch to it like the Imperial troops from Nuclear Dawn (see below)
I know Rebel Minis have a Jin-Roh inspired range that might work and it seems to be a good option but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas. |

I second the Titan Marines: link These guys just ooze mence
. I would use the regular Chinese troops for just regular Chinese. |

Gasmasked, By the way, I like your Second Civil War scenario, with foreign involvement, way better than my original idea: TMP link Dan |

Why not use Armies Army's ROSKs for youir chinese? Moqawama has some extemely well painted figures on this thread
TMP link And here's my not as good paint job alongside some of Ground Zero's Tomorrows War minis, which could also be used for Chinese

Agreed Armies Army's RUSK's would make ideal near future Chinese that look very much like those Imperial troops from Nuclear Dawn pictured in the first post, and for what its worth i highly recommend the miniatures range they have great detail and are well cast. |

thanks again for plugs:) If all go's well with my kickstarter project (slight delay as they now class 10 items or more as bulk, which is banned, however a fix is in hand
i hope) then I also have concept material for an Asian Bloc force to be being working on. I'm also keen to hear what other forces people would be interested in. thanks Keith AA |

Not really a full force but how about a six man Gurkha scout squad and having some of them brandishing their lethal khukri's the GZG ones are rather bland, also a spaceship ground crew with a couple of pilots in appropriate overalls, jumpsuits with helmets. |

My two cents, do a separate Chinese and Japanese line. They sulk never, ever be one single organization. Fill the gaps? Turks and Franco-Germans? AUSTRALIANS! |

@CC Thanks! If you want, I can put up a more detailed timeline of the whole thing – it is the background for most of my PA RPG games so I have been working on it for a while now. @Eclipsing Binaries and AVAMANGO I have seen those RUSK models before but I didn't really notice them until now. They would be excellent models for the PRA. Anyone know how heavily armoured they'll look alongside Rebel and Khurasan? @ Armies Army Good to hear; I will definitely be getting a pack of your British troops for this campaign (I was originally going to use GZG NAC but I prefer your near-future look). As far as Asian-inspired models are concerned, I am definitely excited to see it so long as it isn't overtly neo-samurai or contains a conical hat. Proxy-ing neo-Soviets as Chinese is getting old fast. This is supposed to be Philippines SAF but really inspired me to try and build a Chinese force which is not a parade of Korean War stereotypes.

No samurai's will be hurt in their making :) They will be distinctly like modern Chinese forces today, however with a future war look. Just like my Brits. Thanks Keith |

Excellent news indeed. And the best of luck with your kickstarter. I will contribute to the best of my ability ; ) |

"Chinese Heavy Infantry"!?! Every solder has a gun and boots. As far as I can tell from what little time on military specific details of China, fully equipped with somewhat modern equipement would be the thing. China still believes in throwing Manpower at problems. But mind you my last bit of study was the Sino-Vietnamese conflict in the late 70s. |

I know someone will be surprised, but I have chosen Eureka's Ventaurans to depict my "Inscrutable Oriental Faction" (The denizens of Garang-Kuoa),
I KNOW, I KNOW the Ventaurans are meant to be Zhodani Aliens, but I liked the fact of the fully enclosed headpiece making them 'inhuman' and less individualized than bare-faced troops. |
| AVAMANGO | 08 Nov 2012 11:19 a.m. PST |
I still need to pick up some Ventaurans, because of their fully enclosed helmets they can be any culture or race you want them to be which in my books make them very useful you can even use them as aliens. ;) |

@Avamango, I have 30 Ventaurans if you want them: Kenshin68@roadrunner.com For 15mm Chinese, check out QRF's Modern troops. |
