You may have noticed, I've been painting up the odd unit of Irish Jacobites for the 1689 Rebellion?
I've written a very small review of the book The Battle of Aughrim 1691 by Michael McNally, from which I gathered a great deal of info on the period.

You've inspired me to start on the second unit of my Boyne era armies. I've only had 'em since 1980!

I'm biased I know- Mike is a good friend but for me the book explans bit of the battle I'd never grasped before. Also Sean O#brogains illustrations are excellent.

It is an excellent book and as Ray says a mine of information.

Wauchope's Patrick Sarsfield is also well worth reading.

John,
I'm not quite sure what the castle looked like, all the pictures I've seen just show a small hill with rocky ruins covered in foilage, but have found these two that may make the grade.
This one is from Magister Militon here in the UK, but I'm sure you'll be able to get it where you are.

This one is actually a church, but you could possibly cut it in half and just use the ruined tower??

Looking good Ray sounds like a worthwhile book, nice find on that ruined tower, I like that a lot it seems like it would be useful over a wide range of periods. thumbs up
