Which would you prefer for an AAR, a stop motion animation like this YouTube link or a comic book like this link ? |

Neither. I just want good pictures and a nice write up. |

That stop motion is unwatchable. They probably used some point and shoot. You can't mix frames that are in focus and out of focus. If you want to do a video (easier to monetize) then do a audio cometary with still shots. Maybe an over head shot after every turn and a close up of the action for the turn. |

I have done both and I can tell you that the stop motion takes a lot of work to get done right (mostly timing issues) and results in a much larger file, unless you have some software that can handle it. Again, the content is more important, but comics can be fun, especially considering the subject (Weird War III). |

I think the stop motion stuff is cool--when it's done right. As the other posters above pointed out, focus is key. Same thing for the Graphic Novel approach. The sample you linked to had several photos that were really blurry. The caption bubbles were jumping off of the page in comparison to the shots of the characters. Made it really not such a pleasant reading experience. Between the two, I think I'd spend more time reading a Graphic Novel than I would watching videos. The video approach seems like it has the propensity to become a little hokey after awhile. |

I like the comic book approach myself. I'll probably do some AARs like that in the future when I learn the comic book software I got better. |

I've seen other AARs with the comic book style (Maybe from the same guy?). If I'm choosing between the two, I like that one better. But for an AAR, my preferred system is to have a turn-by-turn description of the events accompanied by good photos (both "on the ground" and overall table shots) depicting the turn-by-turn events. Diagrams might be nice as well. |

Thank you all for your helpful criticism, especially Dantes Cellar. |

flooglestreet, you're welcome. By the way, what does "AAR" stand for? |

Sorry I missed your comment, Dante. AAR is After Action Report. |

If it was done like this, I'd enjoy watching them. YouTube link |
