These are my picks to use for Chigs in my 15mm Tomorrows Wars battles. Manth from Rebel minis, Vott from Rebel minis, and HardShell Warriors with weapon from Khurasan. |

Weren't Chigs supposed to tower over humans a little? Dan |

Yes but I don't have many options |

Let me think for a bit. There's gotta be one that is tallest among those. Either way, the exoskeleton helmet look and non-human-looking weaponry will have a higher priority over the 7-foot height:

I'd go with the 15mm.co.uk Space Crusader figs, and either deal with the different helmets, or do a head swap on them. They are in armor, and are taller than most 15mm/18mm figs. A shame no one has seen fit to do these yet, since the Rebel Earth Force Marines are perfect for the humans. |

That's exactly what I bought the Rebel EF troopers for
trying to convince Jon@GZG to make a 15mm ISSCV. |

I started sculpting a Chig-like helmet for head swaps a very long time ago, based on some of the pics I've collected over the years:
link I was going to begin testing on Rebel Scourge figures first: link rebelminis.com/scourge.html However, then I thought that the GZG Crusties might be better candidates. They are taller, crustacean-looking, but they need helmets and armor plates or something on them, and for their weapons to be more alien-like.

link Of course, if the planet had a methane atmosphere, only the humans would need to have suits, since Chigs thrive in that methane air mix. Either way, the weaponry should not look like it was bought from human dealers: link Dan |

Here's a pic of the "Retained Knights".

I could use a whole company of Chigs, at one mini equals one man scale, e.g. roughly 120 – 150, to go up against the EF Minis, if there were some decent sculpts. |

I think these figures from Blue Moon aka Old Glory would do the trick.
15ALN-118 Robot Legion Legionaires I should note that these are pretty tall for 15/18 so it would also meet the need to have the Chigs taller than the Marines. I have these figures and the first thing I thought when I bought them was, "Wow! I could use these for Chigs!" |

Those robots look interesting. A shame it appears there is only one pose. I hate that! |

I think these would be perfect candidates for Chig's if someone would sculpt a new helmet for them, i think they are tall enough and have full body armour and uniformed weapoary just like the Chig's in the TV series. link |

I agree, those would work as well, if they had armor added to their arms, and new helmets. I'd love to see more poses of the orange guy too. Looks to me like he would be a good lizard-man candidate. Would like to see a slightly egg-shaped vacc helmet for him and his buddies too, with the pointed end to the front, so it covers his snout. Pronounced enough on the pointed egg-shaped helmet to let you know there is an alien wearing it, but not too pointed as to be silly. I'd buy a whole platoon, or company of those, if there were 10 – 12 dynamic poses, e.g. standing and firing, moving, running, prone, kneeling and firing, etc. |

These figs from GZG for Tomorrow's War the Darghaur might work. There are un-horned heads in the mix.

Keep dreaming guys, people have been clamouring for Chigs in 15mm on TMP for at least 4 or five years
. our pleas are obviously falling on deaf ears
|
Eli Arndt | 02 Apr 2013 8:59 a.m. PST |
Not deaf. New and interesting aliens is a tough enough thing to get going for all the usual reason – market, demand, etc. Add to this the fact that the request is for a model of specific IP and it adds a whole new layer of difficulty. |
Logain | 02 Apr 2013 12:33 p.m. PST |
True, but I don't think it is any more of an IP challenge than crusties or any number of figures that walk even close to the line. Just saying Earth Force were the first 15mm I bought years ago, largely because of the resemblence to the Above and Beyond USMC. Dan brings up this topic almost every year (God bless him), but after five years there aren't any great proxies out there, and there hasn't been much interest show from any of the manufacturers out there to make anything even close
|
Eli Arndt | 02 Apr 2013 12:45 p.m. PST |
Logain, I'd imagine that if nobody's jumped in in that time, it's a good sign that there isn't much faith in such a range. This is one of those times where Dan may be overlooking his own ability to help. It seems there are bodies out there that might provide good proxy torsos and Dan is a good sculptor. Perhaps he needs to take a crack at producing a head -Eli |
Cacique Caribe | 02 Apr 2013 12:46 p.m. PST |
Well, I have a long list of projects I need to return to and finish up. However, when I get a chance, I'll give the Chig helmet heads a try. Hopefully, if it turns out right, someone will want to produce sprues with it. I would probably start with a more abstract version, and then move on to the more detailed ones:
