Does anyone have any good guides for the paint colors of British MTBs in 1940/41?

I think they tend to be light greys with the decking painted a little bit darker grey.

Thanks,

Glad you asked that Xenophon as I am trying to find out the same thing. I have info for 1943 onwards but so far haven't been able to track down anything definite for the earlier part of the war.

"Naval Camoflage 1914-1945" by David Williams has some information, pages 122-125.

Often plain gray (507A) all over.
Dieppe raid – Western Approaches colors (white, light sea blue, light sea green, deck B30).
ELCO boats from 1941 – 507A or 507C

I game with 1:3000th scale ships. I use Davco for my cruisers and capital ships, but I prefer and use Navwar for my destroyers.

Anyway, at 1:3000 scale, I just use a medium grey, with two shades of lighter grey to highlight the overall shape, shadow and definition.

Hope that helps.

Regards, Ian

Don't forget the Plymouth Flotilla was in Mountbatten Pink.
