Good vignete here.

"Since Don Carlos Navarra reached Spain in July 1834,the liberal military leaders tried to arrest him. General Rodil who lead the liberal troops divided them into groups whose mission was to catch the Pretender, under the command of Espartero, Lorenzo, Oraá and Carondelet. The latter was in Viana with 300 horsemen and 600 infantry. After fleeing from the troops of Oraá and Lorenzo, Zumalacárregui wanted to test the efficacy of his newly created cavalry. To this end, he assembled a group of 240 riders and headed Viana
Because of its location, Viana is difficult to make a surprise attack , but it happened on September 4. While Carlist infantry attacked the city, the "Lancers of Navarra" faced Carondelet cavalry on the way to Mendavia. Although this was the first pitched battle of the Carlist cavalry, the elitist liberal "Royal Guard" had to retreat. After a couple of attacks led by Zumalacárregui himself, Carondelet took shelter in Logroño having lost 200 of their riders. This battle was important for the morale of the Carlists as Zumalacárregui and demonstrated the success of its work in organizing an army."

Actually sounds like a great scenario for a Carlist Wars battle, with built-in special victory conditions for capturing Don Carlos.
