The Society of Gentlemen Gamers re fought the battle of El Alamein last weekend to celebrate its 70th anniversary. After a hard two day fight the Allies had not achieved Monty's ambitious objectives and the game was declared an Axis victory. So a historical result as the breakthrough was not achived, but the Axis forces were usbstantially written down. My photos from the weekend can be found on my blog willwarweb.blogspot.co.uk 153rd Brigade (51st Highland Division) take point 30, the only Allied objective taken in the game

Thanks for posting! El Alamein has always fascinted me and I am very impressed with the great recreation you did. Back in the mid 60's a friend of mine and myself did some clumsy and crude attempts at it using Airfix and Roco mini-tanks on his basement floor. Poor visual effects by today's standards but great fun none-the-less! |

Yes thanks for posting, great set up you have
But one question
was that pink ice cream van supping both sets of troops? if not then surly that was an unfair advantage to the axis (the italians do make great ice cream) |

Fantastic blog – love all the pics. What rules do you use? Looks like it might be Rapid Fire. If so, any house rules and what level do you do morale at. Are those units of 16 or so figures platoons, companies or battalions? |
