Special Rules and the Order of Battle for the Battle of Raevsky.

Battle of Raevsky
• Fictional Battle
• 15mm Napoleonic figures
• 8'x 6' Table
• Rules: General de Brigade, Deluxe Edition

A 1D6 roll of 1,2, or 3, the Austrian arrive on the West edge of the table on the three foot half closest to the North edge of the table. A 1D6 roll of 4, 5, 6, the Austrians arrive on the North edge of the table on the four foot half closest to the West edge of the table.
• Austrians will arrive on the table on Turn 5 with a 1D6 roll of 5 or 6.
• Austrians will arrive on the table on Turn 6 with a 1D6 roll of 3, 4, 5, or 6.

John,
Great looking game, and after viewing the images, I understand why you didn't include them in the post.

It must of taken you longer to put this all together, than play the game!!

John,
Great figures and a great game. I'm hoping to do something
similar with 6mm. What manufacturer of figures did you use?

Bob

John Tyson22 Oct 2012 8:35 p.m. PST

John,

Thanks. Took me 4 days to fight the battle. About 2 days to put this together.

Bob,

Most of the figs are 2nd generation MiniFigs. The are some 3rd gen Minifigs (i.e. General Raevsky's Brigade), Battle Honors, and AB generals.

God bless,
John T.

Impresive AAR thanks John. Not suprised it took you so long to play out!

Absolutely love seeing all the Minifigs on the table, by far the best 15's ever made. Great looking game!

Hi John,
quiet day at the office so re-read this report! Excellent stuff indeed. Would you mind if I pinch the orbat and scenario ideas for one of our club games?
Maybe we'll see another report from you sometime?
Be good out there,
Jeremy

Hi John,

When ever I see you figures I start to salivate! You KNOW I want too buy them all, when you get tired of them! When you switched to GdB, did you change your stand size, or did you keep the F&S dimensions?

I have two other questions for you.

I know that Minifig 2nd gen did not sell Austrian Landwehr, so who did you get them from?

From whom did you you get your flags?

Reggie

Hi Reggie,

Yes, when I went from Fire & Steel to General de Brigade, I did rebase most of my infantry units. Some, like my British and Russians, I did not. It all depended. I found out that my F&S basing was actually about twice the width they should have been. Had I based my F&S units correctly, I would not have had to rebase for GdB. The first two Austrian Landwehr photos below are from my previous six (6) figure basing in single rank per stand. The third photo is after rebasing in double rank per six (6) figure stand.

My Austrian Landwehr units are 2nd Gen Minifigs. One day I was going through my box of "extra" figures and found a bunch of Austrian Jagers and some other figures I can't remember where they came from other than they are 2nd Gen Minifigs. The Jagers have the left side of the broad brimmed hats turned up, have back packs, and they have bayonets. The unknown others, have the right side of their hats turned up, rolled great coats over the shoulder, and no bayonets. I found enough 'extras' to put together a Landwehr unit. I painted them all with the same tunic, but different colored 'civilian' pants.

The Styrian Landwehr have not yet been in a battle where they didn't rout except the Battle of Raevsky. Fortunately in this battle, there were never engaged.

I enjoy all my figures; especially my 2nd Gen Minifigs. Most of the 2nd Gen Minifigs I've had for many years and they are like 'dear old friends' to me.

Thanks for your always kind words my friend!

God bless,
John T.

Hi Jeremy,

I would be most flattered if you used any of what I've presented here! Certainly, you may use the orbit or anything else you choose!

Thank you!

God bless,
John T.

Hi John,

Thanks for the close-up photos of the Styrian Landwehr, I see them better now. Yes, I see the Austrian Jaegers. The "unknown other" looks like the Minifigs 2nd gen Brunswick Jaegers, in their campaign uniforms. Thanks also for the links.

I was talking to another wargaming friend, who also plays GdB. He gave me a great scenario for a Napoleonic battle.

He set the game up to give the French player several challenges. Basically, the French player started with one French division deployed, with another division following the first division. About 14,000 troops—not models). There is a small Prussian force (maybe 4,000 troops) occupying a blocking position. The Russians (two divisions—about 14,000 troops—not models) will be coming onto the table chasing the French. There is also a "Flying Division" consisting of Cossacks and Russian cavalry that will come onto the board sometime after turn 5 with a roll of 25 or less using percentage die (on turn 6, my friend rolled an 18 so the Flying Division would come on the table on the next turn. I rolled a dice to determine where they would come in. My friend rolled a 6 which meant that the Flying Division would come in behind the Prussians—a 1 would have meant on the left side of the just in front of the Prussians, 2 was on the left side at the rode, 3 – behind the Russians at the end of the table, 4 – on the right side of the table at the road, 5 – on the right of the table just in front of the Prussians.

The battle will continue next week.

I thought you might be interested in that idea.

Thanks again for all the info, and keep sending those pics.

Reggie
