I have a number of 28's that will be clustered on several bigger bases later. As such they need to be based singly for painting.

I've often heard Rubber Cement (RC) is good for temporary bonds – in this case lead/tin to wooden hobby sticks.

Is RC a good choice for this? What do I need to know about priming? will that impact the bond around the edges?

Will the RC be strong enough to hold a 28mm fig down for the painting, and all the flipping and turning that occurs?

What about a horse and rider? Will it hold its bond to a wooden craft stick?

And after, is it really that simple to just peel it off and you're done or does it only partially come off? Leave a residue, require water or anything else to remove?

I've used Super Glue in the past but really have to grip and handle the painted figure to scrape it all off at the end – I'd rather not do that for the amount I have planned.

Anything else I need to know?

I know Blue Tac is an option but I don't own any while I own an unopened bottle of the former.

I've used it before and it does come right off when you are through. I stopped using it because of the long set up time, as well as the fact (with me, anyway) that if I handled things a bit rough or dropped a stick or hit a fig the wrong way they would pop off.

I use PVC (Elmore's white school glue). When you are done just place the figure in water, just to the feet and after an hour the figure will come away clean.

I prefer hot glue. It holds the figures more securely, but still pops loose when done.

If you are unfamiliar with it, something you should know is the stuff stinks like crazy.

I have always used two sided tape.

as pointed out RC does take a long time to dry buy I still use it

I don't use rubber cement for 28 mm, only smaller. Also be aware that once you open the bottle it does not take that long before it dries out.

Hot glue
Double sided duct tape (I use this for plastics)
Thin bead of Elmers

I use it a lot to base 28s. It has a decent grip on wood metal and cardboard. Be warned; It does not play well with rubber steel/magnet material.

I use white glue on scrap corrugated cardboard for painting sticks, works for me.

Does RC take paint? I need to seal up open cell foam, which I have cut into 'cavern wall' sections. Paint does not fill in the cells, so it still looks like foam. I want something to close the cells, but still be flexible, to withstand abuse during handling. I've been considering covering the foam pieces with RC, to seal up the cells, then cover that with Latex interior house paint -- if it will stick to RC… Cheers!

hot glue on roofing nails. Actually I use hot temp sticks on a low heat setting which makes it easier to pop off. Sure if you drop them, figures will pop off the nails. I have glue gun hot by my paint bench so it's easy simply to reafix them.
