I was wondering if there were any conflicts going on in the southern colonies during the time of the F&IW. Most of what I know about it seems to be north of the Mason Dixon line. |

In the Carolinas the Brits and the Cherokees went at it a bit. "Sons of the Mountains", while technically about highlanders in the F&I war, has quite a bit of detail on it. catskill.net/purple/sons.htm |

There were a few skirmishes between the British in Georgia and the French over into Alabama. These weren't large scale fights
maybe 40-a-side
but very bloody at times. More pitting one tribe against another action rather than Europeans getting their hands dirty. A place to start might be to look for information about Fort Toulouse (I used to live a few miles from it and they have a great reconstruction of the fort and living history days) and Fort Jackson. |

Yes seriuos battles between the CHickasaw and French and their northyern and Choctaw allies. The conflict started around 1710 and got real heated in the `730s. They were still fighting in the 1750s but the Choctaw and Chickasaw signed a peace treaty that stated that they would not fight each other in longer due to white mens influences. The Chickasaw also fought the Muscokee and the Cherokee ( a well known battle near Tenn called 'the Chicksaw Old Fields') Due to the French Fort at Toulouse ner Montgomery ALand in the Mobile area, the French had strong influence with the Muscogee/Creek. |

Fort Loudoun in East Tennessee was built and garrisoned by the Independent Company of South Carolina. It was successfully besieged by the Cherokees in 1760. The garrison was allowed to march away but were ambushed two days later and suffered heavy losses. It has been beautifully reconstructed in a Tennessee State Historic Area. fortloudoun.com |

Young Daniel Boone and his folks lived in western NC near Fort Dobbs. A fair bit happened between the Cherokee and the settlers in the area. NC has been doing archeaology and plans to build a recreation: link Jimmy plans to build a 28mm recreation and game it with my Eureka FIW militia. Biggest question is who makes mid-1700s Cherokees. It is probably not what you have in mind but Indian raids from the Ohio country penetrated into south west Virginia. Draper's Meadow where the Ingles family was hit was near Blacksburg in Montgomery County Virginia, and Fort Vause was also captured by a French and Indian attack. |

Also if you move one war back there was fighting between the Spanish in Florida and the English in Georgia during the War of Jenkin's Ear. |

This is a recent title that covers the south. heard the author speak at the Braddock Road Preservation Association meeting this past November. Good talk and the book reads well. link |
