[Shuffles down to Speakers' Corner, places down wooden crate, steps upon it, and proceeds to waffle meanderingly but for catharsis.]
I see on Foundry's website, as part of their laudable overhaul, that they have recognised an 'Embarassing Limited Edition Models Tragedy', whereby limited edition models of the past had been recast and sold, thereby reducing the exclusivity of those models for folks who had the originals and thought that exclusivity was part of the deal. Accordingly, they have destroyed the moulds.
I'm not sure where I stand on the existence of limited edition models, (it seems unusual financially for a start,) but I do endorse standing by one's word, and if the informal contract of that time was the exclusivity of those models, then the destruction of the moulds was an honourable move.
However, another way of interpreting this episode as a Limited Edition Models Tragedy is the following: to my eyes, in this world there are 3 perfect* 28mm mummy figures – Reaper's Nefsokar Awakened (see here: link ), that of Mirliton SG (see here: link ), and the Foundry limited edition (see here: link ). Several come close but need some modification (with a special mention going to Reaper's Mummy Lord of Hakir), and several out there are fine models but not to my taste, but most others are far, far from the fine qualities of the three listed above. Sadly, Foundry's other mummies fall into one of the latter two categories.
So, would honour allow some non-drastic modification of the limited edition mummy, which could then be recast and spread gloriously to the world (and my undead legions)? Maybe one of those snappy alternating-gold-and-blue collar-and shoulder-pad items they liked back then? Or maybe an historically-accurate crown of Lower Egypt? Or that of Unified Egypt?** The original would then still be exclusive, but its essential qualities still available in its descendant.
