And the verdict is – this stuff is great! If you're in any way dissatisfied with your current varnish options then check out my blog to see the results of my test: link |

Thanks for the review. I'm looking for a brush-on matte varnish |

Looks good to me
Though we still get Dull Cote in the US. |

Always hear good stuff about DullCote but just never managed to lay my hands on any. But brush on suits me better. I don't have to leave my paint station any more! :) |

It goes through an airbrush pretty well – easy to thin it with water. |

The vallejo brush on matte varnish is very good. (I tried the W&N matte acrylic varnish many moons ago, and didn't like it. But the formula has probably changed.) |

I've been using Galeria matt varnish for several years now, best varnish I've found as well |

Been using it since not long after it was first produced. The original Artists varnish was even more matt but I switched to the Galeria 'cos I couldn't get any and never went back. As far as I know its formulation hasn't changed. Some of the galeria paints range have changed, but not the varnishes. |

I got my DullCote from Antonecitis. Just recently for whatever reason the current bottle is not drying matt so perhaps I will give W&N a go. |

Gildas, this was long before the Galeria series. Perhaps 20 years ago? ;-) |

Cornelius, Are you being careful to use just a dust coat of Dulcote? If you allow the coat to become wet, you will not get a matt finish. Less is more with Dulcote. |
