Hi, I didn't take any photos of this game during actual play…too busy umpiring and enjoying myself….I'm hopeless at remembering to take photos!!

These show the setup of the game. The timberclad USS Lexington is my own design card model. Unfortunately, I have substituted a tin clad for the Tyler and all other models are various ones I have. Still in the process of building up my ship collection. Takes time as not only do I have to build them, but often as not I have to design them as there are very few out there.

USS Lexington (card model) 1/150 with 15mm figures.

The union troops (under Grant) landed where the last ship is.

Looking 'round the bend' towards Columbus in the distance on the left after the bluff which has the Confederate batteries and camp on it. On the right the camp at Belmont.

The town of Columbus (peter pig train)

Columbus again.

One last shot….

Vtsaogames…..He did ok. The confederates managed to delay the union for a while before desperately piling back into the camp behind the abatis. They suffered plenty of casualties though and the union commander decided that it was too risky to try and charge the camp. With the risk of further reinforcements arriving from the other side of the river Grant decided to pull back to the transports in good order.
So he did slightly worse than on the day, but not much. The Union felt they had delivered a message to the confederates.

The Lexington recieved several hits from the Confederate batteries without causing any damage to them!…Managed to limp back up river though.

PS. in one of the pictures you can see a huge map in the background. We are using this to plot the battles we do to help our understanding of the war. This really helps us understand where the fighting is developing. Not being from the US it is difficult to understand where and why the various battle occur, so this is helping as we put pins in for each game we do. We have started at the beginning and are doing as many as we can! Many years of gaming ahead!
