Any one out there from or even close to the California Bay Area that is into 20mm Modern and Cold War gaming?

I suspect there may be a few players that might have some stuff, or be willing to play, up in the Sacramento area. Probably some as well down in the SF Bay Area too.

You might also inquire on the following Yahoo Groups, if you are interested too, e.g. BayAreaWargamers, SHWG, and M_W_S.

BayAreaWargamers is a good site for gamers in San Jose, and around the Bay. There's a South Bay Gaming Club that used to meet in Cupertino monthly, but not sure if they still meet there, or in another city.

The last two are gaming groups for Sacramento, but some people from the Bay Area come up to play, and/or locals in the Valley drive down to the Bay, occasionally.

I don't have anything painted up in this scale, other than a few diecast moderns – M-1s, Bradleys, T-62s, and possibly a Chieftian, or two (all in desert camo, as they came out of the packaging). I've got some of the soft plastic moderns as well, but nothing painted, or based, e.g. NATO troops and Russians.

I'd be willing to play, but can't travel, since I'm out of work, and gas prices are nearing $5.00 USD a gallon. I'm in the Sac region.

I have a rules set, or two laying around, that I've never tried out either, for modern skirmish games. Special Forces is one of them.

FUBAR is another option for infantry battles, since it's pretty simple.

Would love to do some Cold War gaming, pitting the Germans, US, British, and others against the Warsaw Pact.

Sadly, vehicles in this scale, especially IFVs, and APCs are hard to come by.

I'd be game in 15mm scale, or 12mm scale too, but there are still a lot of gaps in the manufacturers offerings for the vehicles needed to do it right, in my opinion.

1/300th is probably a better option for finding the kit needed to play many games.

Thank you for all the info, I too am out of work, it blows. Actually, vehicles are why i love 20mm, i just use 1/72nd scale, I have a large collection, about half built, and a descent collection of minis too, hoping to expand that some time soon. HO model rail road building from ebay help round out the collection lol.

Sorry to hear that.

Not surprised given the unemployment rate in the state, currently, especially since it's way above the percentages they state in the news.

fozzybear, I like the modern period. I usually use Cold War Commander. Lately I have been running WW2 and American Civil War games at the SouthBayGameClub link
and GameKastle Fremont. There is also a meetup group at link that I belong to that could round up gamers. My blog is 18clovehamhock.blogspot.com

did you try the GuildWargamers forum, should find somebody there.

Love 20mm, lots of vehicles available in metal, plastic or resin.

S and S do a great selection of IFVs, and APCs in Resin for cold war
