Snow has fallen in Minnesota and it's time to line up winter projects. I'd like to paint up a Dailami army for Field of Glory. I'm not familiar with this period and have no reference material. Can anyone recommend:

1. A few good reads to put me in this period?

2. Painting guides or suggestions? It looks to be treated as a very colorful army. LBMS has some inspirational material in Arabic shield patterns and banners.

3. If anyone would like to share a link back to their own Dailami army, I'd appreciate the inspiration!

Not sure about it being a 'good read' but there is an illustration of a Dailami tribesman plus supporting text in Ian Heath's Armies of the Dark Ages, published by Wargames Research Group. You can pick it up on ebay but it wouldn't be worth it just for that one pic. Osprey do some nice stuff on armies of the Sassanids and the various Arab nations that used Dailami. For painting inspiration, try looking at the Dailami on the Musketeer Miniatures site in their Armies of the Caliphates range.

I painted a Dailami army up a copy of years ago for Field of Glory and had mixed but enjoyable success with it. For what it's worth, you can see these photos of it on my blog at the link below:

Good stuff. I'd like to pick up any of the Wargames Research Group material if I can find it on eBay.

Lorenzo, you group has some top shelf painters. I keep a link to your page for inspiration so thanks for posting to the web and sharing.

Peter, I've been a follower of your blog for quite some time. I enjoyed reading about their exploits in the tournaments and thanks for sharing as well!

In 15mm, Falcon UK/Quartermaster has a good Daylaimi casting.

Druzhina, if you live within driving distance of Minnesota, you must stop by for beers on me. That's a great collection of materials to get me inspired. THANKS!
