I recently brought about 30 Xyston 1/600 galleys and plan to base them on rectangle bases. Can anyone point me to a tutorial or similar showing how to decorate the bases? I am after the 3d look, oars breaking the water, small waves, etc. |

No tutorial on me. However, I did once buy a bunch of Eric Hotz paper galleys and they came complete with really nice water effect bases. I put a sheet in an A4 plastic pouch, ran it through an office laminator and came up with watery effect bases that are quite tough. Check Eric's site and see if that works for you. |

I did these using Liquitex full body acrylic paint. It is easy to apply and comes in dark blue for a good base colour too. A tub will do 100 galleys +. You just do a dark wash over the top, dry brush, and splodge some white horses.
