Hi,

I just had a "head-smack" moment when I realized that the Union infantry I had thought were from Pendraken's new ACW line were in fact from their old line. The old line is very close in size and heft to the old AIM line, and thus much larger then the bulk of my GHQ and Starfort figures.

However, when I ordered command sets from Pendraken's new line for the infantry, I realized my mistake. I also happily realized that the new figures were both on much thinner bases and sculpted in a bit smaller scale. In fact, they look like a very close match to my Starfort figures, which means they will fit just fine on the table alongside GHQ (although probably in their own units).

This was news to me! However, the comparison is based on the command sets, not the basic infantry packs.

Has anyone else had a chance to compare the new Pendraken figures with existing lines? What were your thoughts?

Cheers,

Christopher

Hi Christopher are you looking for more ghq figs? I have a whole painted army for sale so let me know.

Thanks

Rick

I concur. They match up best with Perrin and Cracker Line. This is a bit of a disappointment for me, but I'm moving forward.

I can't answer Christopher's question but Rick I am looking for painted GHQ figures.

Well, this is great news for me (sorry Bryan!). Even though I have the bulk of my forces done, I can now expand the infantry with Pendraken at half the price and twice the variety compared to GHQ, and use some of their new specialty units. Starfort also has a really nice marching figure to mix in, but with only a single pose it needed another line to bulk it out. It's too bad about the Perrin / Magister Militum marching poses being all on the left shoulder, but good to know about the upcoming Cracker Line figures.

I just got the new Pendraken ACW generals, by the way, which look great.

Bryan – here's hoping that AIM starts back up, so you can mix them in with the old Pendraken line – they look pretty good together. Won't Blaze Away also fit them pretty well? Their specialty figures and generals are fairly big and bulky, but nicely done.

Cheers,

Christopher

Christopher,
I'm pretty happy with all the options available now. Including old and new Pendraken, Blaze Away, AIM, etc. I really don't have much to complain about.

Bill – they are beautiful figures, and are next on my list. I've got a pile of about 350-400 figures to churn through for FBR, and then the lead pile will be ready to be renewed. ;)

Hmmm …

Looking at the new comparison photo, and the photos on Pendraken's site … is it true that the new line has figures carrying the musket on the left, instead of the right? Or at least 3 out of 4? I hope they haven't repeated Perrin's basic mistake!

1st post on TMP so here goes….
My 10mm ACW army are Magister Militum-nice figures, but very much on the smaller size in the 10mm ranges. The old Pendraken figures look much larger -to the extent they are almost 12mm and appear quite bulky in comparison. How do the new Pendrakens match up? Having looked at the catalog the range looks quite varied and it would be nice to get some variety in command figures and the like.
If anyone was matching up Magisters Range with another manufacturer-who would you use?
Thanks
Martin

For matching with Perrin (now Magister Militum), you can go with the new Pendraken line (and apparently they have left shoulder marching poses like Perrin, grr …), the new Cracker Line figures, or Starfort (now by Langton). You could also use Baggage Train (the old Ten High range) – they are a little "basic" in terms of sculpting, but actually mix quite well given a consistent paint job.

Perrin are in the middle of the size range, and I think the best fit is with the smaller range of figures in 10mm, due to their slim style. They actually fit fairly well with Old Glory, but it's hard to match them up due to the OG figures being on strips.

Cheers,

Christopher
