Almost two weeks in the making
an in-depth review of the new White Dwarf magazine, with the quality you have come to expect from the Fawcett blog: link Just remember, the sincerest criticism comes out of love

I was hoping for a swimsuit issue. It is pretty but it is still just an overpriced commercial. Why didn't they spend the money on updating their antique codices and army books. |

Good write up. I dont think the new style is much of an improvement when 60+ pages is just ads and stuff. I long for the days when Paul "Fat Bloke" Sawyer was running things. There was alot of great content. I for one tend to look for conversion and terrain articles when I get White Dwarf. Unfortunately these have been lacking for some time. I'll keep an open mind an try an issue or two to see if things get better. On a side note I see they started putting prices back in the magazine. |

I expected a mag that had 'Lord of the Rings' on the cover to have some Lord of the Rings content. Meh. |

The lord of the rings was just an advert for the hobbit game which is due out in December I believe – it was on the inside back cover not the front I agree with the pics and the red filers on the lights I dont think these made the models look any better, and in my opinion made them look worse, I got to see some of the models photograthed in WD at games day and they looked a lot better in the flesh. Adverts, they are a business so you have to expect adverts and they will want to promote new content so I dont think you will get away from that. I really hope the red light was just for the chaos stuff and is not repeated I do think some of the "extra" content was just filler such as the Jervis article but the other articles and layout I liked I am lucky that i did a subscription a few monthsa ago so the price rise wont affect me till around MAy/June next year. I am keen to see what next months is like Al |

"We've minimized army list limitations (and encourage you to do the same in your house rule games) because the GW hobby is a collecting hobby, and we don't want to stop you from buying more cool GW stuff." wow. really?
when GW started ages ago selling commanders for 8x the price of the basic unit, I could barely accept that as you could only use 1, and people would naturally be expected to buy less. But why not make every eldar model as cool as an exarch? Don't you want every marine in your army look like sternguard? But of course, you have to pay more. sheesh |

Great write-up, Wehrmacht. The retro cover *almost* dragged me back in. Thanks for saving me a sawbuck! |

I got mine for free from a friend who buys books/mag's and then passes them along
Wouldn't have wasted the $10 USD-$11 USD for it otherwise, as it's still an overpricede GW catalog/fan-gasm mag. As for the "couldn't have gotten this level of detail in metal" comment on the Finecrap, er, Finecast Dark Apostle mini, they've never seen Infinity from Corvus Belli, have they? |

"As for the "couldn't have gotten this level of detail in metal" comment on the Finecrap, er, Finecast Dark Apostle mini, they've never seen Infinity from Corvus Belli, have they?" Good one Retz! They wasted so much space showing the old figs that were remastered in Finecast. Id bet dollars to doghnuts that those were pics of the old metal figures and not teh "new" finecast figs. |
