Burton pays tribute to Dracula, Frankenstein and other scary flicks in his 3-D stop-motion creation Frankenweenie, opening Friday, and to drive home the point, the director and his team have produced retro-styled posters featuring cute mutants surrounded by the kind of shocking slogans that once scared the hell out of horror fans — and brought them to theaters.

Burton's visual concepts are also being showcased in the The Art of Frankenweenie exhibition, which runs through Nov. 7 at Disney's California Adventure theme park following stops in Spain, France, Japan, Canada, England and Mexico.
