Just received a mail order that had 3 horses completely broken off their bases. Not enough surface area on the hoofs to glue, my bases are not thick enough to drill holes for the legs. How to save these?

If you've only just received them from the supplier then send them back for replacement. You are not obliged to accept sub-standard goods.

Margard has it absolutely right. I had a similar problem with some 15 mm horses. Supplier swopped them over with no fuss.

It's more humane just to put 'em down.

If you absolutely have to fix them do the following. Drill a small hole in the belly with a pin vise. Insert a length of steel or brass wire that extends past the ends of the legs. Pin the horse to the base using this wire and line up the broken legs. Coat leg breaks in super glue and let harden.

Paint the pin the color of your flocking to disguise it and if possible hide it in the middle of a unit. Painting the pin black may also work since it usually tricks the ey into thinking it is just a shadow.
