Okay folks. So, I posted a few pictures of the Battle Honors figures with a few comments. See the "from the work bench" page at commandpostproductions.co

Thanks

I would contact them, as it looks like your Dragoon didn't get caught in the quality control area. I have a lot of Battle Honours and have not had any problems with the castings. I actually prefer them over the Old Glory figures I have as I think the posing and proportions are a bit more realistic. I still like the OG figures though. I don't mix figure manufacturers on the same base unless they are a close match anyway.

I am not even sure that is a BH Russian dragoon…at least not one produced by Old Glory/19th C Miniatures.

yes it is that bad a casting…..maybe another brand or a recast?

Yes, it is a BH Russian Dragoon. I've painted quite a few in the last ten years, and they all had the grainy surface to them. It doesn't show once they're primed, though.

Not impressed with the Russian Dragoon but your Uhlans look very nice (I've got these same figures sitting half finished on my workbench) – I found there was plenty of detail there to work with and, as AncientsGamer says, the proportions and posing are a bit more realistic than OG.

I think you are correct that the detail on the BH figures isn't as exaggerated as on the OG models so they might not suit you if you've become accustomed to painting OG figures. I really should finish those Uhlans (they are about 80% done but just keep getting bumped in favour of the next project).

I generally prefer BH (although pretty big 15's) to OG (really big 15s).

But get really frustrated with the lack of photos on their website.

I think some of their molds are getting pretty old though. Not all the spokes cast completely on cannon wheels. Just got a sample pack of French limbers that were lumpy/gritty all over. So, I just placed a big limber order with MiniFigs instead.

Ah, but there is nothing wrong with OG artillery and you can mix it with BH, I would think.
