I noticed that the Magic Set Editor application can work very well for making stat cards for Song of Blades and Heroes. Specifically the FPM cards look quite nice and so long as you presume the shield icon is quality they work really nice. Here is a Wolfen Model from Confrontation, I borrowed the stats from the Yahoo Group though.
If I had some time to do more fiddling, we could alter the shield icon, replace the various Mana icons for other uses and import a variety of faction logos and such. Als, I could make a variety of different color layouts for the backgrounds (there are a lot built in as you have 5 colors with 3-4 variations each, as well as multi-color cards in different splits) But the usefulness tends to depend on what force you are working with. |

I tried whipping out a few more cards from the rulebook, actually I have a lot of them done, it's just a matter of piecing artwork together. I am probably just going to rob a mass amount of MTG artwork as it is readily available for now. I am iffy about using miniatures as I am sure not everyone will be using the same figures as I am.
Let me know if these look good to you, if anyone wants to spend some time copying characters over, I'll let you know how. To be fair it is pretty simple. It'll just save me boatloads of effort. Also, if you have recommendations for art for the anything, please let me know and give me specifics. |

I think they look good. But considering that I have to have a cheat sheet for what each special rule means, I am not sure what I save for having a card and a sheet, instead of a (longer) sheet. I think they would be good for the special character(s) on each side, though. Especially if the picture is of the actual model you are using. This was something I did for DBA to teach new players. There was a picture of each unit/element, front and back, so they could quickly identify which units were which element type. So if you had several figures that were similar, but not identical, and with different stats, this would be great. I will have to see what the Magic Set Editor is and whether it is on the iOS. Thanks. |

It does work on Mac's. I may well be able to type out the character's specials in full on these actually, I just hadn't though about it. I also would have preferred to use my model photos. However, I felt that since others would have different figures that may no work out very well. |

Well, I can program keywords into it so that when you type a special abilities name it automatically puts in a description. The issue is that many of the descriptions are far too long and will need trimmed down. Magic-User for example is just impractical to insert directly into the box. It is cool though as it automatically scales the text to fit properly. I've been slowly adding the various special abilities as briefly as I can get away with. It is tedious and a bit difficult to sort out the most brief way to write in the needed information. I am not certain how to share the custom keywords at this point. They may or may not transfer with the set file, I know nearly everything else does. Here is the Basilisk with the description auto filled.
Some of the models are impractical, so I started adding pg references. |
