Here following a laser cutted paints holder that I designed exactly to fill an Ikea drawer.
Everything was done with freeware softwares.
I used GOOGLE SKETCHUP to design it, then I converted to a laser machine file using a free addon of Inkscape (that is freeware too).
I simply checked the line properties and then send it to a laser company here in Italy.

Can we import a building in to sketch up and then have this Inkscape make machine files for a mdf laser cutter?!

:)

People draw buildings in Sketch Up.
Can these be converted to laser machine files as well?

VonTed, he said he converted it to a laser machine file with a freeware program. As far as material goes, I would think that MDF would work and it dependent on the machine rather than the file.

By the way, you would always get a hole saw and do this yourself. There are some hole drilling bits are are size adjustable. Would take some time but would probably bit a bit a cheaper.

How much did it cost?

Wargamer8426 Sep 2012 11:39 p.m. PST

Well I payed a fix price for all the sheet of material in which I included other stuff that I need.
The system let me upload finished file and gave me immediate cost for production.
The colors tray cost should be around 35Euro.
Cutting curves or circles is really much more expensive than straight lines.
