With the upcoming Skyfall Bond film coming out soon, it raises the TMP utter drivel question about which is your favorite Bond? Which film, which actor, which Bond girl or villain?

John the OFM25 Sep 2012 7:31 p.m. PST

Bond: Sean Connery

FilmL From Russia With Love

Film song: "For Your Eyes Only", Sheena easton

Bond Girl: Halle Berry

Villain: Goldfinger "No, Mister Bond. I expect you to die!"

Mako1125 Sep 2012 7:31 p.m. PST

Sean, and then Roger.

Caroline Munro – she was deliciously evil. Not many girls can pull off being seductive, while trying to machine gun you from a helicopter.

The Russian girl, Anna Topp (or something like that – you know, the fit gymnast with thighs to crush a man) is a decent runner up.

UpperCanada25 Sep 2012 7:48 p.m. PST

Sean d'accord, but Daniel Craig is a close study to the master, and rates second for me.

Dubious product placements in the franchise notwithstanding.

Connery or Craig, for me.
As for the rest, it's been a while, so I can't really remember many details. In general, I prefer the less-gadgety films, so early Connery, either of Timothy Dalton's films, Goldeneye or Casino Royale for me.

If you've not seen it, have a look at:

In my dotage I find I much prefer the Roger Moore ones because they're not in any way serious.

Best Bond who never was – Jeremy Irons, but they would have had to make Bond more of a bastard like he is in the books.

I agree with John for the most part. Toss up between Ursula and the For Your Eyes Only girl for me (forget her name) Oh, I like the girl that liked to strangle guys with her legs too. I must have a death wish.

As far as liking all the bond girls; not quite as one was a former man before the sex change operation ;-)

And seriously, the Goldfinger line is what all villains should say!

Excellent choices, gentlemen and ladies.

Unfortunately, you all know too much. So, you will all have to die.

But first, please put on these futuristic outfits ( which I personally designed ) and then while we dine on delicious caviar and fine wines, I will explain how I will put you to death. It will be slow and done in the most complex way I can think of… damn it… they all escaped.

clanboru26 Sep 2012 5:43 p.m. PST

Definitely Pierce Brosnan. Everyone knows you have to get an Irish guy to play a proper British secret agent.

peterx Supporting Member of TMP26 Sep 2012 5:45 p.m. PST

I thought Bond was a Scot?

Norman D Landings27 Sep 2012 4:23 a.m. PST

Bond was originally 'generic British', insofar as Fleming hadn't specifically addressed his ethnicity in the books.

Fleming was sceptical when Connery was cast, but after the first movie he was so impressed by Connery's performance that he expanded upon Bond's origins, writing in a Scottish father and Swiss mother.

Solzhenitsyn27 Sep 2012 6:30 a.m. PST

Bond : Connery

Film : "Doctor No"

Old Slow Trot27 Sep 2012 7:03 a.m. PST

Even Sean Connery's brother Neil got into the act with "Operation Kid Brother",which also included Bernard Lee,Lois Maxwell, and Adolfo Celi.

Dasher01 Oct 2012 9:20 a.m. PST

Daniel Craig has won me over. Watching how he kills, as he kills, he remains always completely in character, an icy professional, which carries over into every other expression of his spycraft.

On a completely unrelated note, I'd really like to see Charles Dance make a cameo appearance as Bond's father.
