Just curious
Has anyone ever thought of producing buildings that, when the roofs are lifted, the top third of the lower walls come up with it, including the lintels (headers) on the windows and doors? I don't know how much of a headache they would be to cast, but imagine how easy it would be to access the figures in the rooms if the top third of the walls came away with the roof! Or am I just delirious and talking nonsense, from the long hours at work? Dan PS. If it's never been tried before, but the concept catches on, I don't ask for much. Just call them "CC roofs"! No. Not "sissy roofs". "CC Roofs"! |

I have scratch built buildings from foamcore where the the top of the side walls were attached to the roof. The door headers did not come off. It make card roofs sturdier and access to the interiors easy. They were all for 15mm gaming. |

I've considered it, but never done it, so far. I'm in the planning stages of a small derelict japanese village, so I might as well try that.

I'm pretty sure I've seen it already offered by one or more of the advertisers on TMP. Of course, I have been looking for just who it is for the last few weeks as I want a box load for 28mm Bolt Action terrain. The buildings are pretty standard single European town houses, but when assembled they have zig-zag 'cracks' running up the walls & to door & window openings. Lift the roof & remove wall sections for instant 'cleaned up' ruins. |

Sorry CC. Good idea butsome of the larger figure makers have beat you to it. Poste Militare had designed figures where the seam where two parts fit would look "natural". Example: The upper torso meets on the top of the belt of the lower torso. The resultant joint appears as a natural shadow and looks like the normal separation between the two garments. But kudos for your application of the old beaner there, CC! Tom |
