Released, like out of Sing Sing with five dollars and a bus ticket --

Roderick Robertson and I, founders, owners and Capos di Tutti Capi of Pulp Action Library are happy to announce the release of "Mad Dogs With Guns", our 1920s Prohibition Era shoot 'em up rules.

"Mad Dogs" uses the core mechanisms from "Astounding Tales!", but in a more structured and "realistic" way, in that Big Shots can get shot, and puny mob ‘associates' can get lucky with a cheap pistol every now and then. You can drive like a maniac, throw dynamite through your rival's window, and occasionally get beaten up by a little old lady.

It has a full set of gangland scenarios and a campaign system to run rackets in the imaginary, yet totally corrupt, city of Paradise, Illinois.

This is done in association with Copplestone Castings' "Gangsters – Mad Dogs With Guns" range of figures.

Mr. Capone says you should buy several copies. You know, you got a nice place here – be a shame if anything happened to it.

"Mad Dogs With Guns" is available from Wargames vault at $18 USD for the PDF version or $29 USD for the print copy, or $45 USD for one of each as a bundle. Right now only the PDF version is showing up. You get six free pages to make your mind up, because we're swell guys.

A set of rules with dedicated miniatures?
Another Evil Empire in da woiks!

As sure as the sun rises in the north, I can see the day when only Copplestone Castings gangsters can be used in MDWG tournaments.

I hate gangster tournament players. They are so…. gangsterish!

Not really. Copplestone Miniatures are compatible with other 28mm gangster miniatures. There's nothing exclusive about them. Guys with pistols and guys with Thompson SMG's. Same as Murch Pulp and all the others. (shrug) It's a way of advertising Copplestone, but i'm OK with that.

Is Paradise, Illinois anywhere close to Tolono?

Lee Brilleaux Fezian19 Sep 2012 7:13 a.m. PST

Copplestone says to me, "Write some rules for my figures. Make sure none of them other mooks as makes gangster figures get a look in, see?"

Okay, the first line is true. But, since it's partly his project, and he loaded us down with toy soldiers, what could I say but "Sure, boss!"

There will be no tournaments with these rules.

John Dortmunder was raised in an orphanage in the town of Dead Indian, Illinois, run by the Bleeding Heart Sisters of Eternal Misery.
Is that close to Paradise?

Actually, John, the key to winning a gangster tournament is to make offer to the other players that they can not refuse.

Hah! Easier said than done!
You just know that some mooks will be developing a points system and running tournaments!

I suspect that what you REALLY mean is that you will not be showing up for the Friday Night Rules Clarfication Seminar to make Rulings. The players will have to rely on the postmark (or time stamp) on the infamous "Email from Squint".

Ack!

And for how long will Wargame Vault deny us the hard copy of these rules!

I, also, want the hard copy, and would have already purchased, had it been available.

Lee Brilleaux Fezian19 Sep 2012 8:59 a.m. PST

Roderick says the guy at WV (who has a green visor and ink all down his trousers) says we have to do something involving lead type to fix that issue.

I'll keep you posted. I want a paper copy myself.!

LOL. I can't even imagine a "pulp era" tournament, but i'd play in one.

Great news and best of luck – MJS!

If all goes well we should see the print version available by a weekend. Note that I do not specify *which* weekend…

Are ya gonna give us a teaser of the Campaign rules and an idea of how non-crooks fit in, Mexican Jack?
