Just found myself checking pennies for ferrous cores using the magnet in my mobile phone cover. *shaking head at this point* Mind you, I wish I had thought to recheck what date the mint had started this in the UK. And wishing I had done it before basing and priming the 1st Platoon (34 15mm figures) I never realised how many pre 92 pennies were still in circulation. And what are the odds of using the only two 2p's out of a quids worth which are pre 92! Making sure the lottery is on for tomorrow. Feel free to pick out which of the above statements makes me a true saddo. And after having done so realising that you knew exactly why I was doing this from just the first sentence alone. Which makes me feel a bit better knowing theres a lot of odd people together on TMP. |

I got a few bags of coppers from the bank last week for basing. I then sat, like you, with a magnet and went through the lot. Think of it as therapy. |

Well, at least money is still good for something. I've started using nickels as tree bases. Cheaper than washers. According to an earlier post even most governments don't want cash. At least not in small amounts. Makes one wonder why they make the stuff. |

The kids went through their money boxes the other week and had loads of coppers, so I used a magnet to swap out all the steel ones for copper ones. Generally the shiney ones are steel – just because they are newer. I do find it odd that 1p and 2p coins are cheaper than similar sized washers. Let alone MDF circles. Though I have bought smaller washers quite cheaply for basing. |

Rrobbyrobot typed Makes one wonder why they make the stuff. There's a lot of gamers in the mint? |

For years I've used 1p and 2p for figures in the painting and priming process. Stick them onto the coin with blu-tack and spray. When finished remove the blu-tack and recylce. |

Have been using 2p's for sometime now. I also use 30mm and 40mm washers which I buy in lots of 50's off eBay. Magnetic paper in boxfiles. Just wish I could find a system to hold my artillery. |
