Isn't this just a speculative "wish" article? Read it again, this is a suggested directir/Cast to Warner Bros.

In the late 1980's they were talking about Arnold Schwarzenegger as Sgt. Rock. I believe the main problem is he couldn't get rid of that Germanic ( Austrian ) accent.

I think his pic for Bulldozer is spot on.

No POW story for me, however. They need to set it in North Africa so they can fight the DAK and get an extra year out of the war. Also the scenery is easier to do, since it's mostly low rolling hills.

They also need to save Jackie Johnson for the third or fourth movie. It would have more impact for him to come into Easy Company after it's already established, and be more historical that way.

Billy-Bob is a poor choice for SGT Rock, IMHO. You need someone who will be recognizable as SGT Rock, not as himself.

Then spin off the Haunted Tank and The War That Time Forgot and I am in movie heaven!

But ya gotta have "Gunner and Sarge" for the pacific, and the "Enemy Ace" for WWI.

I think Guy Pierce would be an alright choice for Sgt. Rock but I think, in my opinion, that he 'd be a good choice for Mad Max than Thomas Hardy.

Ugh. Leave it to Hollywood to miss the whole point. Sgt. Rock was one tough, ugly mother-grabber. He's a total badass who could care less what anyone thinks of his looks. Look at the illustration above? That in mind, how about someone like Vinnie Jones:

or this guy from Breaking Bad:

Tommy Lee Jones would have been great 10 years ago. Lee Marvin made a living playing badasses with his ugly face.

I'm sure there are plenty more.

Why not Dwayne ‘the Rock' Johnson?

Maybe have Kid Rock do the soundtrack.

I'd heard they wanted Bruce Willis a few years back, for the part.
