Does anyone have any inside information about what Perry is planning to do with regards to their Russian range? They have covered quite a bit, and the only major components missing are the other cavalry (specifically Hussars, Uhlans, Cossacks and Mounted Jagers.) I hope they continue to release more cavalry, and it would be nice if some were in plastic (at least the horses.) Thanks, ilodic. |

I have to believe that if they are going to the trouble to make field forges, wagons-full of dead and wounded, and supply wagons, that they intend to eventually cover everything. |

I shouldn't be too confident in that Fritz. They've done it with the ACW and AWI and have just about scratched the surface if you include the older Foundry figures. They can be a bit capricious, but it's their company after all and they can pretty much do as they please. There's a Russian Napoleonic range at Foundry and they may simply seek to augment that with their own releases. |

The AWI/ACW stuff mixes well enough, but some of the Napoleonics were designed by other sculptors. I didn't know there had been an actual fall out with Foundry, but if the Twins decide to go for complete ranges with the Napoleonics it could become a dog's breakfast given the potential to skulk off into other troop types before the current army project is complete. So far, so good, but who'd have guessed at Western Desert figures as the latest 'surprise' project? When they do release Russian Hussars and Uhlans, I may be sunk . . . the cuirassiers are already a hell of a temptation. :O( |

As I had posted in another thread (and suggested to Perry themselves) it would make sense to cast a "generic" horse out of plastic, with various poses, given of course the respective regional harness and such (as the riders would be cast to the saddle in lead.) This would save on shipping, as plastic is lighter to ship, for those across the pond, sort of speak, and less mould work for the various figures. I do find it rather odd that such attention would be given to medical wagons and the numerous artillery limbers, seeing the other cavalry has not been adressed (at least that I am aware of.) I do not know the Perry's thought process in designing figures, approach, what to choose, but their products are top notch. I was extremely surprised to see how their plastic Russians painted up. Very crisp, and easy to assemble (of course I like that kind of thing, it is all part of the contruction, painting and basing process to me) ilodic. |
