I am preparing the UK Wargames Club Directory 2013 for publication in the January issue of Miniature Wargames magazine.

The 2012 Directory can be downloaded free from the Reinforcements section of the MW page on the Atlantic Publishers website (www.atlanticpublishers.com).

If your club was included in the 2012 directory, and all details remain unchanged, you need take no action. If not, please ensure YOUR club is included by returning the following information by 9 November 2012:

Club Name
Full Address (of where you meet) including postcode
Website
Contact Name
Contact email
Contact Phone

Email to: andrew[at]miniwargames[dot]com

Let's make this the most definitive listing of UK clubs yet!

This will be a great resource if you can get it done.

Is there any way to check online if a club is in the list?

Wow! Couldn't find ANY of the Birmingham clubs on there. There are at least 3, that I know of, not including ones in the suburbs!!

Do the details have to be provided by a member of the club's comittee?

A PDF download IS online to all intents and purposes.

Thanks to all who have sent in their entries so far!

Details don't have to be provided by a committee member, necessarily, but they do have to be provided by someone – and ideally someone willing to have their contact phone number or email address published.

It's not just Birmingham, either – there are a lot of clubs that I know exist (because I have seen them listed as attending shows) but who seem remarkably publicity shy. That is not the way to recruit new members and build the hobby.

Our club has lost about half it's members over the last 2 years through them moving away and our 'Leader' doesn't deem it necessary to recruit any replacements, or advertise, even though we are down to 3 attendees some nights now. Weird. So I've emailed our details over for inclusion anyway to see if there are any folk out there who would like to come along but don't know we exist!! There'll be no one left otherwise. If he doesn't like it, tough.

Wargames Association of Reading

Established in 1978, we are a miniature tabletop club for wargamers in the Reading area. We meet weekly where upto ninety members play tabletop games from Ancients to Modern and beyond. We are an active club and arrange a variety of social events for our members.

We meet every Wednesday evening ( 6:30pm–11:00pm ) at the Winnersh Community Centre, New Road, Sindlesham, Near Wokingham, Berkshire. RG41 5DU. The centre has free parking, a large well lit, heated hall, and a tea bar. Occasionally we hold games on other evenings and over weekends. Everyone is welcome but please note that under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

The atmosphere of our club is very friendly and new members are always welcome. We play a wide variety of games including Flames of War, Fields of Glory,DBMM, DBA, DBR, AD&D, WRG 6th Edition, Fire & Fury, Action Stations, Black Powder, Command Decision, Heroclix, Rapid Fire, Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40K, WAB, Lord of the Rings, Legends of the Old West, Blood Bowl, Close Action, Smoke on the Water, General Quarters, General De Brigade, Gutshot, Nuts! Check Your Six, Wings of War, Uncharted Seas, Firestorm Armada etc.. In fact we will try our hand at anything and many of our members even produce their own rules. The club has its own tables, some armies and a good selection of terrain.

The UK Wargames Club Directory 2013 has now been published in the January issue of Miniature Wargames (Issue 357) available from all good retailers or from me direct (www.wargamesfever.com)

My thanks go to all the clubs who submitted their details; the directory is about 20% bigger than the 2012 one.

The directory will be made available as a free download from the Atlantic website (www.atlanticpublishers.com) later in 2013.

Sorry - only verified members can post on the forums.
