This year we'll be unveiling The Cinema at Colonial Barracks Nov. 2-3-4, 2012 in New Orleans. During the convention, attendees will be able to enjoy a wide variety of films from the extensive collection of Larry Brom. These films have been a continual inspiration to him. In fact, he has never considered a reference to being the author of "Hollywood rules" a bad thing. "Gunga Din was the grandfather of The Sword and The Flame; it just took me 40 years to get it down on paper."

A sampling of what's available for your viewing pleasure at The Cinema:

Gunga Din
Zulu
Zulu Dawn
Four Feathers
Khartoum
The Drum
Lives of a Bengal Lancer
The Wind and The Lion
55 Days at Peking
The Real Glory
Beau Geste
Under Two Flags
Drums Along the Mohawk
Northwest Passage
Last of the Mohicans
The Crossing
Waterloo
Fort Apache
She Wore a Yellow Ribbon
Rio Grande
Rough Riders

Lori!

I hope that copy of "Gunga Din" is the rare full color version I was able to send you some years back.

For those who've not seen it, they're in for a TREAT!

I hope it's not the 2002 version of The Four Feathers. It seems like it's the only version they'll play on TV…

I'm really looking forward to it.

Any idea on the vendor list yet? Sometimes I do some pre-orders.

We have the rare color version of Gunga Din as well as the classic B&W (Thanks, TVAG). But we do not acknowledge the 2002 copy of Four Feathers……. And for those of us familiar with the Major General's website, I forgot to mention the beloved by Colonial gamers "Wee Willie Winkie". Who can ever forget the immortal line, "Mr. Khan, Mr. Khan, you dropped your necklace."

Vendor list should be forthcoming as well as game schedules.

The only one I did not recognize off the top of my head was 'The Drum'.

Surely you mean colorized, or is it a remake?

Colorized--and BEAUTIFULLY, based on Director George Stevens' own 16mm Kodachrome home movies filmed on site.

Indeed, the BEST colorization of any film I've ever seen, and proof of the value of the technology, despite the sometimes hysterical whining from some purists.

If color photography in the 30's and before was not so expensive and challenging, more films shot in B&W would have used color. Black and White was not ALWAYS the Director's choice, but it was what's for dinner.

If you know and love the film (and you cannot know and NOT love "Gunga Din"), you owe it to yourself to settle in for its running and enjoy it all the more.

Oh, my. Definitely going to have to make this trip as soon as I can afford the vacation time to do it!

That list brings back wonderful childhood memories!!!

I wish I could make it this year, unfortunately I've neither the time nor the funds to do so. Between the new house and the 2 babaies I've even missed HURRICON in Orlando last month. By next year I hope to be in a better financial position.

Have a blast, as I know y'all will.

Cheers,
Sgt. Guinness

Well I thought i had things worked out to go to New Orleans on Thursday.
So, I woke up this morning in a good mood, then I looked in the mirror and I was lopsided. Significant swelling on the right side of my abdomen. So tests, tests and tests for the next few days.
Bummer, I really wanted to go to Colonial barracks.
