I seem to recall someone posting a link to printable wall panels of "Egyptian" art for covering corridor walls.

And I think they were very similar in look to the lightly colored sketches made by early 18th and 19th century egyptologists, but were made into long strips for lining corridor walls.

Or maybe they were printouts from the Egyptian "Book of the Dead" scroll.

Did I imagine it? Or is it a real missing link?

Thanks,

Dan

PM me and I'll post you some. Got them from Geocities so the link's no good…

Thanks!

Guys,

Just imagine long thin strips, perhaps just 1 to 1.25 inches in width (useful whether gaming 28s or 15s), printed like an unrolled "Book of the Dead":

Like a much longer (8 inches) and much thinner (1 to 1.25 inches) version of a bookmark, but with the scenes and text shown oriented horizontally, like these here:

There must be electronic copies available in the public domain, right?

Even if it was done using a faded and partially disintegrated scroll as a master, that would be great:

Tomb walls often have parts of the painted plaster artwork erode away.

Surely someone must have thought about making such a thing for terrain-making, right?

You could do a lot with this site: link

Assuming you have access to the yahoo group, here are the walls I used for the Mummy demo:

Just submitted my request to join. I'm curious to see what you did!

If all else fails, maybe I can come up with an alternative by reducing and combining symbols and scenes from these stencils:

Though I fear it would take me absolutely FOREVER just to compose a single workable strip of panels!

I can also try to mail you but the files are rather large.
All in all about 16 Mb.

PM sent. Could the files be sent in 2 or 3 emails?

Thanks so, so much!

A couple of miniature egyptian style scrolls here that may be interesting -
these are designed to be printed out for use with 28mm scale figures

You might want to check your FLBS for the Dover Books series of clip-art. Many of them come with a CD of art you can use. They're pretty cheap, especially when you consider that you are getting a large volume of printer ready art handed to you.

I've used some of these books before for wargame art. They cost a few bucks, but it's a lot better than trolling Google images for hours and spending more hours clipping and futzing.

Excellent suggestion! Will check them out.

Guys,

In case some of you would like to use these borders:

link

I plan to crop a couple of them and then reverse the colors, so the background is white and the pattern itself is black.

With this one, I'll just reverse the colors:

Wow. I really like this stuff too:

Ordered the CD. It should be arriving soon. Can't wait to try it out.

I hope I can make a few tiles in these configurations, but with realistic-looking walls:

Lots of cool images here. I've thought about doing an Egyptian-themed adventure, but I never got around to it.

Tkdguy,

What are you waiting for? Git to it!

TKDGuy,

Any progress on your attempt?

Dan

tkdguy06 Sep 2013 10:51 p.m. PST

Nothing at this time, I'm afraid. Too many other things going on now. Maybe in the future.

Cacique Caribe08 Sep 2013 3:54 a.m. PST

I understand. When do you start your planning stage, please let us know so we can compare notes.

Since last time discussed …

Has anyone else made any attempts at printable Egyptian wall art strips?

Perhaps with some type of top or bottom border?

When I made a dungeon for 10mm figures, I just downloaded a hieroglyphics font. You can type up whatever pseudo-Egyptian stuff you want and cover just as much space as you need. By controlling the font size, you control how big each glyph is, and it's dead easy to add little bits of color as well.

For my dungeon, I just put a strip of glyphs along the top of the wall like so:

But you can use this technique for lots of other things. I also used it on my support columns:

Hi CC

Both the following websites allow you to create printable Hieroglyphs and cartouches.

This website provides ttf font files that you can install into Word (works with Libre office to) and create you own files to print off.

My wife reads them a bit as a hobby, if there is a phrase you would like let me know.

Cacique Caribe13 Feb 2014 1:43 p.m. PST

Imagine something like this, with one inch tall (25mm) corridors, a more open ceiling, and with 20mm tall Egyptian artwork and inscriptions running along the walls, leaving a thin open stone border above and below the strips …

picture

link

Maybe the best thing might be to print the 20mm tall strips on the thinnest and most malleable paper possible, and the images and characters done in dark tan ink?

Dan

Lfseeney13 Feb 2014 3:01 p.m. PST

How about wood veneer strips?

Cacique Caribe13 Feb 2014 3:34 p.m. PST

Wood veneer strips? You can print on them?

CC,

I don't know if this link to Mazeforge's free stuff has been posted, but I just found it;

I wonder how to change it to black and white.

I wonder how to change it to black and white.

I've been known to print to a b/w printer and scan.
