Does anyone know how many buttons did the British cavalry coats had during the SYW? At kronoskaf, they seem to go all way down the coat, but it's not possible to count them because of the turnbacks

Have you looked at the Morrier paintings? |

I have, but most oft he cavalrymen have their equipment covering the front of their coats. The only one which is a little clearer is the painting of a farrier, which seems to have 11 buttons on each side. ( link ). Would that be correct? |

I am not sure the number of buttons was that dogmatic. The coat could have varied from issue to issue. Most infantry coats seemed to have ten buttons, IIRC. I'm not sure what you mean by turnbacks, as to me, a turnback was a coat skirt. Is that what you mean? |

I thought turnbacks were the coat skirt, but turned back to show the facing colour
As for the buttons, that's an interesting idea. |
