Well, Isaac has finally left the building…! We lost power on Tues. at 4 AM and it was restored at 6:30 PM last night. But our central A/C is out due to all the water. We do, however, have a window unit that cools the bedrooms and baths side. And a call in to the landlord so hopefully we'll have it fixed soon. Right now it'a just so nice to have some A/C. Power is still out around the city but the crews are working 24/7 to get it restored. This was some wind/rain event! We didn't flood but the winds were clocked at 75-80 mph. We were prepared (after Katrina and Gustav) and had our meds, a large cooler and ice, food, and several Coleman-type lanterns. I got some reading accomplished and there was a lot of "out on the front porch" to catch a breeze, visit with neighbors and watch all the repair trucks roll in beginning Thursday. Our dogs thought they were being punished and the cats just took it all in stride.

Hope Clay Cooper (in Slidell) is ok; they took on huge amounts of water. Also Ken Hafer in Metairie, Marc Fluitt in Mandeville, Steve Wirth of the River Parishes and all the other gamers in SE Louisiana I forgot to mention. Keep sending us good thoughts. It's so nice to have the modern conveniences back.

Ken posted on the THW forum that he had evac'ed to Houston. Don't know if he is back in your neighborhood yet or not.

Isaac is pretty much sitting on us here in KC. Raining hard, but nothing catastrophic. They said at 8am this morning we'd had 6", which is more rain than we've had in total since April. So, despite the record drought, we'll wrap up the year with 'normal' rainfall amounts. I just wish we hadn't got it all at once at the end of the summer.

Hello to Lori, Larry & Christy. I am happy to report that the Cooper home is just as dry as we left it before we went to Jackson this past Tuesday. Glad to hear that ya'll are OK and getting back to normal.

Glad to hear y'all did OK this time. I lived in Galveston for 20 years and got tired of the Hurricane crap shoot. Now live in central Texas where we only have tornadoes!

Lots of rain and some wind in Columbia,Ms.A tornado went by west of here.Power was out for 2 minutes.

Thanks for confirming for all your friends--and we are legion!--that you got through another one.

Best wishes still, and hopes that Colonial Barracks in Novemeber won't have to face any problems, either!

Rattle my cage whenever you might want,

Glad to hear everyone is okay. Some wind damage out by my place in Chalmette, but not too much water here, and most of the time we had electricity.

OTOH, everything between the battlefield and the FQ seemed to have been without power for the better part of this last week, so there was a lot of concern for friends stuck home in that area. Things back in order now.
