Hello, I'm trying to ascertain what cavalry units may have had light machine guns included in their organisation for 1914. I'm thinking the Chasseurs may have been the only cavalry unit to be so equipped. Notwithstanding the cavalry division also had a cyclists battalion that seem to be equipped both with Madsen and Hotchkiss if my memory serves me correctly who supported the cavalry division. Thank you for your time. Cheers, Helen |

Helen, That is a really good question. I would have to do some more research with my documents at home, but what was available on paper vs. what was actually in the field would likely vary widely with the Belgians. Eric |

Thanks Eric that would be great. I still have not found any reference to the Belgians using Madsens/Rexer lmgs in 1914. I'm aware they used a few Lewis lmgs with the fourth armee an again hard to ascertain who carried them. The Battle of Haelen may have indicated that the Chasseurs a Cheval used the Hotchkiss lmg.
