Hi, Anyone have comparison photos of Navwar/Langton 16th century ships (other than galleys)? I have some nice Valiant ships and want to add more to units the respective Armadas/Squadrons. From what I've read Navwar and Langton are on opposite quality poles, but can the Navwar models be upgraded to a higher standard? |

Sorry don't have photos, but you're right Navwar are along the basic lines, nice enough models – until you see the Langton ones which are just beautiful (but several times the price). If you're doing a large battle – like Lepanto (galleys obviously) – then Navwar is the affordable way, they paint up ok and can of course be rigged to improve the overall look. |

Navwar Armada range in 1/1200 is a good one. Details are mostly quite crisp and overstated enough to make painting fairly easy. I haven't seen the Langton range except for some of the galleys but I can't see that the difference in either quality or detail is worth the price differential. At £3.00 GBP per pack for the Armada ships and £1.50 GBP for most of the galleys these are good value. |

It's the etched brass oars, sails and cabins that make the difference. : link ompare the Langton carak link to the Navwar one – Langton wins hands down. I have plenty of Navwar galleys, but I have considered doing them all over with langton models. Only Time (and partially the money) stops me. |

Thanks guys. I'll check out the Navwar stuff and order the Langton galleon. I think he Navwar models would improve manifold with a decent set of sails. Does Langton sells them separately? @20thmaine, both links are from the Langton carak. |

Sorry – first was to a galley, second to Langton's gallery including a Carak – Navwar don't have photo's on their web site. I was trying to highlight that Langton's ships have (a) much nicer sails (b) much nicer oars and (c) because of the etched brass detailing their galley canopies are just that – canopies whilst all Navwar's are solid. But
.I'm pretty happy with my Navwar galley's – the Langton ones weren't available in any case at the time I got my fleets together. |
