Hi,The subject says it all. Do you glue your turrets to the hull or not? What advantages are had either way? Thanks Jim |

I glue mine on. They don't fall off that way. Eric |

Are you talking 1/600? I don't glue mine on – so we can turn them to face the appropriate direction. |

For the smaller scales I glue them on. Larger works with movable turrets. For the 1/4 scale
well, never mind. |

I use a pretty small scale, so I glue them on (it's the not fall off thing) |

I do not glue turrets unless an absolute necessity. Tacky putty does wonders for microarmor turrets, should be just as useable for Ironclads. |

I have many 1/600 Ironclads and I glue all my turrets. Don't want them falling off. |

I don't do iron clads but, when it comes to turrets, I glue everything. I can't be bothered turning turrets in any event. Turning turrets often causes the paint to chip; them being knocked off in play; dropped and trod on; lost! Glued turrets are acceptable to most people as a 'wargame standard' and once those who don't glue turrets realise you do the issue dissolves to insignificance. In the end it's up to you to do what, to coin a phrase, floats your boat. |

I glue mine on. I like the idea of being able to turn them, but gluing's just easier. |

This discussion seems to have gone full circle now. |

But I have only made one with a turret, the monitor, at 1/150 and I haven't glued it. All guns on other ships are glued down though. |

I fitted the turret onto a short piece of dowel as an axis so it can rotate 360 degrees. The roof also lifts off so we can depict full crew or reduced crew inside the turret. This is on the 15mm Old Glory Monitor: link Larry GettysburgSoldiers.com |

Depends upon the scale. Magnets will hold them on, in most cases. |

Thanks for all the replies. It seems about 50/50, I think I'll glue them down. Like the Beast Rabban said "I like the idea of turning them, but gluing them is easier." Thanks Jim |

Magnets or Blu-Tack work for me. I like turrets to turn. |

Mine stay in place just fine without glue, but I game in 28mm size. |

1/600 scale I glue mine also. |
