I've long noticed that some things in 6mm seem too small (i.e. Rolls-Royce armored cars) and other things in 10mm seem too large (i.e. JS-3 tanks). Today, I saw the Pendraken Falklands range and realized they look lovely, but I don't usually do 10mm moderns. I'm wondering how they would look next to 1/285 tanks.

Do you find that 6mm and 10mm mix acceptably on the same table or at all?

Yesthatphil23 Aug 2012 12:34 p.m. PST

My guess is it would be a mistake. Unless you were deliberately creating a 'mixed guage' a la Art of Tactic.

Even largish 6mm like Baccus are going to look odd next to 10mm, especially as most 10mm are really closer to 12mm.

I doubt you'll ever be able to mix them without the vehicles looking grossly undersized. Especially as all ranges seem to be oversized so 10mm will be closer to 12 and 6mm is usually closer to 8mm…

You could mix them if you want, say, the 10mm to be Supertanks – but otherwise not likely to look very good

I think it will look very odd.

Battletech has tanks, Mechs and support equipment in 6mm, but the infantry is 10mm scaled. I'd say use at your own best judgment.
Try out just one or two of the figure you want to try. But be wary of a broken heart if it looks odd on your gaming table.

No.

Heretic!

Just buy opposing armies in both scales like most of us do.

It's the excuse we use to get more toys.

He who dies with the most toys, WINS!

Nooooo!

I don't think they'd look too well together on the table, the figures would be towering over the armour!

We'll be doing all the vehicles to go with the Falkland's range though, and also trying to provide as many of the aircraft as possible as well.

blacksoilbill23 Aug 2012 4:40 p.m. PST

Isn't 10mm more like 1:150 scale? Anyway, there's no way I'd mix them. Vastly different sizes, really.

blacksoilbill23 Aug 2012 4:48 p.m. PST

Or 1:200 scale? All confused now!

Was that a typo in the heading or what?

Narratio24 Aug 2012 4:41 a.m. PST

As galvinM said "He who dies with the most toys, WINS!"
So go do both. Life is too short for such procrastination.

10mm is roughly 1:150th, which is what all our vehicles are designed to.
