I'm fairly new to SoBH and finally played a couple of games this weekend. I'm just wondering what other peoples views are concerning Skeleton Archers. I found them to be effectively useless against most opponents (and especially against Dwarves). Also, does the ranged weapon ranges seem short? -Patrick |

A weapon's range indicates the distance it fires without penalty. You can shoot at up to triple the distance listed with a result penalty. See the first paragraph on PG 8 for further details. You can also get a little more "oomph" with "Concentrated Shooting" on pg 16. Individual skeletal archers trying to take things down on their own are pretty sad, but en-masse they can be a threat.

I got that on page 8. Skelly's are Combat 1, so any range past their normal they are even less useful. I'll re-look page 16, but I'm also seriously considering using the self build to up them to Combat 2. |

Well in SoBH archers are supposed to be quite week, they main way you get kills in is by group fireing at one target, (-1 on opponets role per extra firer). The other use is to kill the other guys shooters. But yeah if you don't like them as C1 build it up to C2, still rubbish, but a bit better. I change the Zombie ('cus whats the point of Q6), To Q5 C3 and drop the slow rule. So that they have a chance of actually activating and but arn't so they are only average at combat. There are lots of stats I change on songs of creation to make the rules fit how I think a figure should be in the game. |

you could self build and give them Sharpshooter. This gives them +1 to their dice roll for shooting but -1 for melee (as they are not trained or equipped for it, probably carrying only a dagger for self defence) |

I self built my Skeleton Archers and made them Quality 4 Combat 2 Shooter Short Undead. They're still barely competent, but they're less of a liability on the battlefield. |

I added a better Skelly archer in Revised SBH. |
