I've talked to some of the players and they are really enjoying it so I'd encourage folks to attend.

Thanks! I plan to have alternating months for the air
campaign so not to burn the rules out. Odd months I have
also planned 1/600 PT boats.

Its a shame you can't make Thursdays as this Thursday I'm running a French & Indian War game using Sharp Practice rules.

(We need to get Curtis to show more of us how to update the website so we can take some of the load off him to get it done)

Never gamed that era, sounds good! Played a War of
the Rings with Curtis, beginner game. Had fun,
only one unit left, it was a dwarf unit.
29 Sep at noon I will be hosting a 1/600 Motor Torpedo
Boat action using modified Flaklighter II rules. New
players are always welcome.

BTW Curtis got me interested in Bolt Action rules.

Private Matter13 Sep 2012 12:48 p.m. PST

We'll be playing Bolt Action tonight if you can make it up to Wings Wheels & Waves.

1/600 Brit vs German using Flaklighter II rules were
played today. I modified the rules to use a hex map.
Collisions, fuel explosions and gunfire filled the air.
Out of 8 total vessels, the British won by a beat up
70' Vosper who was the only thing left standing.

How many show up in your place to play? Are they Cleveland area gamers or do you have your own crew?

Private Matter01 Oct 2012 10:59 a.m. PST

Hello Skyking20,
At the Massillon Area Wargamers the numbers vary and most come from the area south of Akron with the majority being local to Massillon. I myself live near Canal Fulton whereas some of our members come from as far as Wooster & New Philadelphia. I don't know where Jimbokc drives in from. We have two principal game times, Thursday evening and Saturday afternoons. I can't speak for Saturdays (since I can only make Thursdays) but on Thursdays we get anywhere from 3 to 9 gamers with 4 or 5 being average.

We try to schedule our games in advance but sometimes last minute changes occur. I do know that on the 18th we are looking to have game 11 in our 12 game Vietnam mini-campaign using NFG rules. Everyone is allowed to join in even if you aren't part of the campaign. This Thursday, (Oct 4th) we are doing a Battle of Britain game in 1/300 using rules created by one of our members. And on the 25th as it's the last Thursday game before Halloween it will be All Things Zombie.

I'm sure Jimbokc can fill in more on what occurs on Saturdays. The main thing with our little group is that we welcome everyone. So feel free to make the drive down from Cleveland and stop in at Wings Wheels & Waves to join in on one of our games.

Skyking20,
Hello, I drive from Delaware up for Sat gaming. We are looking for more gamers. We have 2-3 per Saturday session.
So far we have gamed 1/600 WW2 naval, 1/300 Modern Air,
28mm Lord of the Rings. In the future we have planned 1/700 modern naval, 1/2400 WW2 naval, 1/300 WW2 Air, 10mm WW2, and even 20-28mm WW2/Modern. MAW offers a wide assortment of options for a wargamer. We are also receptive to new rules to try.

Today was a 1/600 WW2 naval game involving Brits vs. Germans. We learned the 4" gunners on the HMS Kittiwake are sharpshooters. First shell hit the S-42 and caused a major
explosion sinking the vessel. The second S-boat was also sunk but managed to fire torpedoes that sunk the Kittiwake.
Also a 70' Vosper MTB had the luck of the Irish escaping
harm form 3" and 37mm fire. The Vosper crew tried to board and take over a Siebel ferry but after a firefight retreated.
Next game early December.

Sounds like a good game Jim. I would have loved to have seen it.
