This is the first force for my 6 mm mecha project.

Heavy weapons squad with scouts.

Line squads

Recon/jump squads

The whole force

The figures are from GZG's 6mm Dirtside line, about half of them with added bits from these 2 sets:

and

Now I'll just have to find some good opponents for them, any suggestions are welcome.

Awesome project- have you looked at DP9's fleet scale stuff? The Gears should be close to 6mm scale, I think.

Looks good ! thumbs up

Love them, and those extra bits are brilliant as well.

I see that you stuck with the "traditional" VOTOMs schemes. Why not just divide them into the 2 or 3 factions normal?

spleenrippa,
You're right, they certainly seem to fit with the gzg votoms. (not my picture)

Nice stuff! I use those same figs for 3mm mechas. I was wondering how to upgun the ones you use as scouts. Going to have to take a look at that railgun bits sprue!

@ SpleenRippa
Even though I really like the Heavy Gear figs, I just can't bring myself to pay those kind of prices for them.
Part of the reason I'm doing this project is to get something that has the same feel to it without having to break the bank.

@Darby E
Two reasons actually:
First, I like to have a lot of different options/models in each of my armies.
And second, in my storyline I imagined the two factions having to band together to face an outside/alien threat, a bit of Votoms meets Robotech you could say.

Anyway, thanx everybody for all the positive comments and I'll definately keep you posted when I find an opposing force too my liking.

I've decided to wait until Crisis 2012 in Antwerp to look for my invading alien troops so I'll be able to hold the figures side by side and see what works best.

Meanwhile, as I was looking through my lead pile, I discovered that, who or what ever these nefarious aliens may be, they've already started their evil plans to soften up the defenders before the invasion by infesting the planet with these…

Small bugs are GZG 6mm dirtside, large bugs are all Rebel minis
