AB Nice! I can see a use for those in my collection. So what does the 'lander' look like that carries those ;-)

Mooseworks817 Aug 2012 1:42 p.m. PST

Yes, show us the lander. Also any chance of an radar or radio antenna?

Fantastic – would make a nice make-shift habitation unit, comms centre or medical aid post for pathfinder forces with the requisite paint-job….. keep this stuff coming Michael, you're really cooking on gas now!

Yes they stack quite nicely and a little set of steps going to the higher level ones does look cool, apparently…

not sure how those doors open. They would lose storage to swing in. And swinging out would make an obstacle for loading. I think I would redesign without the vertical line and fold them out like a ramp.

Angel Barracks17 Aug 2012 11:15 p.m. PST

They swing out like the ones we have today on articulated motorised arms so they fold back flat.
Or they are nano doors like in the film Doom.
Or they are removed by loaders like in Aliens.
Or whatever else you want, it is just pretend.

Thing to bare in mind is that it is just a representation of a cargo container, not a scale model of an actual one.

Just as guns on figures have no hollow barrel, so how would they actually fire anything?
They are just meant to represent a gun.
Just as people use trees that are far too small or hills made from coloured felt.
Or as cavalry figures that have no reigns, some things are still left up to the imagination.

Very Nice !! thumbs up

kokigami18 Aug 2012 2:40 p.m. PST

ok, sure, but the point is to keep from dispelling the willful suspension of disbelief. Though I seem to be in the minority, the doors triggered my reality filter, and tossed me out of the "zone". Not that they aren't nice.. they are..

Angel Barracks18 Aug 2012 2:56 p.m. PST

Fair enough.
I was a bit over defensive to be sure, so sorry for getting the hump.

But my aim is to make recognisable things more than 'realistic' things.
That has always been my aim, as long as people can see what it is meant to be then my job is done.
A bit like with my new sci-fi troopers:

They are pumped up over muscled meat heads with guns that are way too big to be sensible.
But they are meant to be larger than life.

Not everyone will like everything, I just struggle to understand when people say things like 'those guns are not realistic' but in the same breath will fully accept teleporters and anti-grav tanks as being 'real'.

Not that this is a comment on your views, just an observation about sci-fi in general.

Hope that you get my drift and see what I am rambling about.

Michael.

Imagination! WHOA boy! Whats that?

Here are a few stacked up ready for transporting.

I will also be making available a set of steps and walkways that will fit around these incase anyone wants to use them as sort of dwelling complex.

The only downside is that flak worms like to hide in the gaps, but then so do junkers so who can blaim them…

commanderroj19 Aug 2012 9:10 a.m. PST

Very ST:TMP!

Angel Barracks19 Aug 2012 9:46 a.m. PST

The v'ger bit?

Big Ian19 Aug 2012 11:49 a.m. PST

They look even better stacked. I really like what you are doing with the range, keep it up.

SteelonSand19 Aug 2012 12:27 p.m. PST

Now we're talking…. how about a half sized one as well, (one 'cell' ) as it were…. can't wait to see the stairs/walkways…..

Models are gret and will be used as my corporate mercenary the Kobol Guard Brigade (KGB)the enforcement and security unit of the Kobolian Terraforming Company.

Looking forward to add reinforcement, sure would like the mortar team, and those containers will be usefull.

Hiya gergoy1951.
No idea yet, sorry.

Though the RDF's chainsaw bayonets will be handy against those Malcore Beasts if they get too close.

I will update when I know more.

It will of course be on my blog too:

Michael,

saw the pictures, looking awsome, looking forward to see them on your website.

As a side note, those containers would look quite good suspended under a Space 1999 Eagle type dropship (hint mode off).
