Hi everyone, We recently cracked out the old and OoP game from Thanes Games called Empires of Arcana. While pretty simple at a glance, it is a lot of fun. We were thinking about how to improve the components. So, I could probably make a bigger and cleaner map. I improved the money: link I think there is some room for improvement with the pieces. link There are cities, wizard towers, castles, and troops of all varieties. Any ideas? Thanks! Jay |

Loved that game, although you're right, the components could use an upgrade, and the spelling error on the map is grating. You might try the figs from the old Demonworld Empires range for some of the structures. Troops I think I'd leave as counters – you need an awful lot of them in fairly small spaces sometimes – but 10mm or 15mm fantasy ranges might suit for them. IIRC, you really only need a few general types – infantry, cavalry, wizards, dragons, was that it? Goblins too, of course. Wouldn't be EoA without those goblins. :) |

Right. It might be cost prohibitive to do much be larger than 6mm. As I recall there is a big goblin faction and about 6 player factions with varying degrees of foot soldier, cavalry, wizards, and dragons, the latter probably being very expensive to "improve" upon. I probably need the bigger map to hold the minis. I did something similar with the AH game Dune: link link EoA will require a lot more minis and buildings! -Jay |

I've always been curious about this game, wonder if there'll ever be an official reprint? |

Dune is a lot of fun. I think some of the updated rulesets add a lot to the game and clean up some ambiguities. We still get it out on the table several times a year. I think EoA would work well on different maps, with specialized empires, and in a variety of scenarios. It is a shame it seems to be stuck OoP. -Jay |
