Another request for help or suggestions to a newbie to Biblical ancients. For my DBA Hittite army does anyone have any idea or suggestions as to what a good camp might be? I have the Osprey book on the Hittites ordered but until it comes I am still very much in the realm of lack of knowledge. Thank you, Terry |

I have seen a cool camp done with chariots up on blocks and kids running away with the wheels

In the same vein and saving on figures you could have a ruined stone gatehouse on a base edge with an "Old Kadesh welcomes careful drivers" roadsign there with some decorative wheel marks all over the base and a the remains of a crashed chariot to taste :-) |

With the proposed changes in the upcoming DBA 3.0, I am rebuilding my BUA to function as modular elements to create different sizes and shapes. I may add small enclosures or orchards to fill out a hamlet as an example. Since camps have remained unchanged, I plan to make three templates of 1 x 3, 1.5 x 2.5 and 2 x 2 BW. Each template will be textured like the bases, but I will add small vignettes on circular bases to depict a camp setting (camp fires, stacks of weapons, unloaded baggage, prisoners with generic looking guard, etc.). Storage of camps will be reduced. At first glance, two Biblical armies would have little to distinquish them apart, but standards and shields could be unique for both. Cheers, Robert |

I'm planning to do Hittites too, and I've been playing around with building a version of the Lion Gate at Hattusha out of Sculpey clay:
And then, I wanted to place some figures around it, but I haven't worked out all of the details yet. I think it would be cool to do some type of priest or other authority figure, but I don't know what one would look like, or if anyone makes civilians that could pass for Hittites. |

I did a generic ancients camp a while back. I got some female water carriers, did the back ofthe base as water and a line of these women walking up a path from the water, added a few spare animals ( cattle, a dog etc) and would do most biblical armies up to Greek. Phil |

@ Altius, Nice plan. The gate should look fairly new, as your depiction would have it 3,200 years ago. Good luck and keep us posted. Cheers, |
